155 is the limiter.

I've done 145 on a track in my '97. I wouldn't want to go faster. Felt stable and all, but you're in the hands of God at that speed.

My friend just reminded me she had the cruise control set at 150 once on my car. I didn't ask if she had gone faster.

I was in Vegas last week in my TL waiting at a red light at the top of a steep hill at 4:00 in the morning. There was a gusty tailwind pounding my rear windshield as I gazed at the bone dry pavement on the empty road ahead. The stoplight for the intersecting road turned yellow, then red. I gently kissed the silver cross hanging from my neck and tucked it back under my t-shirt. As my stoplight turned from red to green, I heard the squeal of my tires set against the low rumble of the TL's engine in first gear. My body lurched back into my seat as I gripped the steering wheel tightly. I glanced at the speedometer. 50, 60, 70... My grip tightened as the vehicle broke 100. 120, 130, 140... The needle was moving a little slower now, but at 155 a miraculous thing happened. The sound of the VTEC engine whirring furiously was suddenly replaced by a powerful gust of wind slamming into the rear of the TL, propelling it even faster downhill. 159, 160, 161... I will never know just how far past 160 the TL went that day, for my eyes were drawn to the flashing red and blue in my rearview mirror, but I do know that the Crown Victoria didn't keep up with it.

...and then you woke up.

wizlb: Your poll makes no sense.

Maybe you want to start over. It's like "What did you have for lunch? 1) toaster, 2) waiter, 3) breakfast"

No, I didn't wake up then. Some hookers jumped in my open window and used the shift knob to 'stimulate' themselves. By then I was doing 190. Then I woke up.

the cars is limited to 149mph, because of the tire rating.

I have gone 158 mph, but you have to add speedometer error and other factors.

I have a picture going 152 mph, but the quality sucks. BTW is a 99 TL

Hmm. I always heard it as "Do you pack a lunch, or do you take the bus to work?"

Good question, though.

You look way too relaxed holding on to that wheel @ 158, and with your other hand holding on to the camera too. I'd be holding on the 10 & 2 position and concentrating if I was going that fast.

as you could see the actual picture was from regular film, so I took a picture of the picture with my digital camera. Trust me is real. BTW it was in new mexico. We figure we were going downhill at about 10 feet per second. It took us about 3 seconds to refresh the navi screen to display the altitude and in every refresh is was down about 30 ft.

Is not like I'm taking corners at that speed. I was going about 100 mph when I took this one

The tires on my '04 TL are rated at 168 MPH. I don't think there is a speed limiter. I believe it is drag limited. With a Cd of .29 (same as Corvette), I think I could reach over 150 w/o a problem. In fact, I can do that in 4th gear. The owner's manual advises not to downshift from 5th to 4th over 149 MPH.
