10,000 Miles Service

Hi fellow TL Owners,

I recently received a letter from the Acura dealer stating that my TL is due for a 10,000 miles service. What kind of service is this? Do I really need this service? I just had the oil change and tire rotations when my TL was 6,580 miles old. Any suggestion or advice is greatly appreciated. Thank you for reading my posting.

zenscape, your dealer is using mileage as a servicing reference when they should be using the MID as a reference (A, B, 1-7). I'm assuming you did your previous service based on the MID and if that's the case, I would just ignore any service notices your dealer sends you and use the MID as your guide.

Thanks for the Reply.

Thanks for the replies guys. Yeah, I have my service not too long ago based on the MID. These dealers probably want to make money by offerring these ripoff services like check this and check that.

Just follow your MID... There's no such thing as a "10K" service.. That's just another opportunity to rip a hole in your wallet... Chances are, your next service will be an oil change and tire rotation in another 3-5k miles (after 6,580). Of course, this could mean 10K is possible, but I wouldn't take it in unless the MID said so.

Thanks!

Thanks for the advice TLTrance. I'll probably stick with the MID.

What does the MID go off of? I ask because my TL now has about 13k miles and I've only gone in once for an A1 service. Aside from that first service, I've changed my oil (and am going to go change it again right now) but I'm curious about whether it might be time for anything else.

The info from the MID is based on engine operating conditions and accumulated engine revolutions. The onboard computer calculates remaining engone oil life. It also displays codes for other schduled maintenance items. A/B (Main Items) and 1-7 (Sub Items).
