Custom Made Keyfob

has anyone successfully made new types of keys, one that integrate the key and the keyfob into one thing? ive seen pics of someone who has done the honda conversion but didn't like it, i really want something like the MERCEDES or VOLKSWAGEN keys. how much do you guys think it would cost?

it better be...its not that its such a big deal...it just would make owning an Acura feel more solid and more luxurious...instead of like driving a minivan

I think the next better step would be to just do like what some of the new Lexus cars (and Corvette's) are doing.. Proximity keys...

This may sound dumb, but I read an article recently where a man who drives a new Audi (has the keyfob integrated with the key, click a button and the key comes out like a switchblade) got his keys taken away from him at an airport check-in...

I think it was on MSN.com or something a few weeks back. Can't remember if they actually took the keys or if he found a place to put them untl he got back from his trip. Whacky, but that's what the article said. I'll post the link if I can find it again.

I always thought those keys were great until I read that.

The keyfob for Range Rovers and Land Rover LR3s have an interesting feature in that it recharges itself every time it's plugged into the ignition. If Acura is going about designing new keyfobs for subsequent generations of the TL (or any of the other models), that feature might be worth considering.

Ok that's custom to me. Other than that the most custom you will probably get is going to be a painted key fob.

its not really custom....because its made for acura/honda. its more of a conversion than a custom job. im looking to see if anyone made custom looking keys like the switchblade key...i would love to convert mine to the switchblade key but its not worth the money

We may buy a TL in the next 2 weeks, is there a cover we can buy for the key fob to prevent it from getting scratched up ?

something like that c ould prevent your keyfob from getting scracthed up....but the keyfob itself dosn't really get so scratched. its the fact that you have a seperate key and a seperate keyfob on a keyring and the part where you put the ring gets really beat up
