1 week old car got keyed :(
My 1 wk old NBP Type S got keyed today..Happened in the parking lot in Oakville..
I took all the necessary precautions when parking but..
Some jealous ass****...
It is about a feet long..
Here are the pics:

It is white..when i passed my finger nail over it i can feel the slight click...it doesnt look too deep...
Not sure what to do..Do you guys think I have to get the whole door painted..or is there some easier fix..touchup paint?
How much do you guys think this will approx cost me...
I have a $500 deductible on my insurance..
I dont prefer to paint the whole door of a brand new car...Worst case if I have to and if I choose to leave it as is...what damage would it cause (rust...)
Thoughts on what to do are greatly appreciated!!

If you can feel it, that means it's through the paint. Bad news. You can buy touch up paint at the dealer, or get the whole door painted. Might be better to have the dealer touch it up, wet sand it down, touch it up..etc...
The color will look more consistent that way.

If your feeling it with your finger nail your not going to buff it out . The pens are garbage and hard to work with. The brush in a bottle is better.. but get a really tiny artists brush to apply it. And apply it "in" the scratch not all over it.
If you have a "good" buffer and pads/polished you can wet sand the touchup and polish it out.
Other option is the yellow pages .. some chip repair guys can do it.

I would be livid! I am just thinking about it now. I hope you can get it touched up cheaper than your deductable. Good luck!
Sorry for your loss dude, that does really suck. But that is what insurance is for shit like that. But that really pisses me off ignorant people like that who do stuff to people who work hard for their things. But remember karma is a mother f$&*%@ so what comes around goes around.

What a REAL bummer. I worry about this all the time. My TSX is red with chrome wheels and it an eye magnet. All you can do is try and reduce the odds in your favor.
If I park at a mall, NEVER park where the young people will enter, Stay away from the movie or food court side. Try to find a parking spot that is away from others, but there are cars near by so you don't stand out. Finally what I do, if I am going to be away for a long time, I just cover my car with its cover. The Keyer's have to be quick and they will not lift the cover to do that. Wherever I go, I preferr the upscale area, of town, No one cars about my Acura when they are driven a Bentley
Finally if all else fails hide your car by parking between cars, but using this

I am very anal about my cars, and take extreme measures.

After checking their website now I noticed that they have the chain so it won't get stolen. I guess I have to look at this stuff again.
I think the coward pussy should be found and beaten to death. I had my 07 TL-S
keyed at work when it was 3 months old. Both passenger doors and part of the rear
fender. The entire side of the car except the passenger front fender had to be painted.
That was the only way to match, but I had ASM, not NBP. It cost ME $1,200. I didn't
claim it on my insurance, I AM SURE it would of gone up. I talked to my insurance about
it and I got a definate feeling my insurance would go up within a year. My deductable
was also $500. Once a NEW car gets damaged its NOT EVER the same IMO...............
Its like a cheating wife. Can't ever be the same. Its gone now anyway.
Good luck. I wish you could fine out who did it. It would be FUN to smash in their HEAD.

Go to a professorial body shop and see what they can do for you. They can do wonders. I would not want the door painted either.

I had something similar happen to me when I first got it, and they went all the way through the metal... looks like it was with a blade not a key... I tried the paint pen (failed) even followed the DIY instructions from here wetsanded and what not.. its still visible... I will get it proffesionally done when i move out of the city (along with what fucking city parkers have done to my back bumper)
This thread describes very well what you're in for if you want to attempt to fix this kind of damage yourself. A must read if your thinking about doing that. The results he gets are fantastic but keep in mind the amount of work and time that's required to do it correctly. This is what a body shop should do if you take it there.
Factor in the cost of all the materials, equipment, and what your time is worth and compare that to what a shop would charge or what your decuctible would be if you go the insurance route.

The only thing that would hold me back from getting an entire door or whichever part gets scratched is what if it happens again right after? that would incredibly suck, thats why, your best bet is to just get it touched up.
This happened to me and my dealer took care of me. The guy working in the body shop was very cool about it. My key mark was about 6 inches long below my driver door handle. They buffed it right out and did a little touch up on it. All free of charge. Looks like it never happened now

Painting is unneccessary. Like glass, or any other transparent thing, clear coat turns white when it's roughened up (ie a scratch). As long as it's not down to the paint, you can use rubbing compound on it and then polish it right out. I've fixed so many scratches this way....

get the paint leveled up, sand, polish and apply clear where necessary.
