I have a "new to me", '08 base TL in CBP. I've had it for a month and completely love the car. It's made driving fun again (coming from an '03 Pilot).

I recently snagged the bottom of the front bumper cover on something and cracked it. Now I'm looking to get it fixed.

I've asked my local mechanic if he'd replace it for me. In speccing out the parts, he's telling me the front bumper cover comes unpainted. For some reason, I thought they were prepainted.

So, what's the straight story? Do the bumper covers come painted or is that something I'm going to need to do?

Factory lip kits come painted, bumpers come raw or primed

 

bumper covers are naked...you have to get them painted.

 

Thanks guys. Looks like this is going to be more expensive than I thought.

 

Ouch......can it not be repaired? My wife's car was backed into and a hole punched into the back bumper cover. I thought it was going to be replaced but the shop I took it too said there are new techniques to repair the cover. Sure enough, it was as if it didn't happen. I do think they ended up painting it though.

 

New OEM TL bumpers are coated in black primer. The bumper needs to be paint matched to the adjacent fenders.
