07 TLS VS 06 Mustang GT VS last gr G35 sedan

I practiced for a few days @ launching my car on a street, and I think I got better

than before. Turning VSA off created massive wheel spins, and my practice was

to minimize that. Only way to test out my AEM CAI and improved skill was to race

someone out on a street. I picked Friday night because, there're lot of race going

on @ milliken ave off of 10 freeway. I was cruising around 3 blocks slowly,

waiting for someone to race.......well I didn't have to wait after all. On my left

Mustang GT, and g35 sedan pulled over on my right to race me. As we pulled

over, mustang was revving and trying to show off he's got some backbones. I

didn't wanna mess up my launching thing time, so i did little preparation before

launching. I pulled up my e-brake and half clutching around 2500rpm. On green I

let go my e-brake and pushed down my accelerator quickly but not all the way as

letting go my clutch slowly. @ 5000rpm, i shifted to second gear and punched the

accelerator all the way.....amazingly those mothers were already 1 car length

behind. when i reached to 7000rpm, i shifted to 3rd......about 3 car lengths. AEM

CAI growled at high RPM at it was sweet! By the time, I shifted to 4th......they

were not following me anymore, 'cause I beat 'em by so much length. ehh....fuck

it......i slowed down and went home.

congrats man! The outcome is what I would expect. Did you spin your wheels at all? Did you hear them spinning their tires? Was the G35 AT or MT (but I guess that didn't matter since they are about as fast as each other according to some members!).

A little spin, but lot less than before. Wheels were spinning only from Mustang GT. I think g35 was automatic.

Yea, I guess if there was less wheelspin from the mustang, it could've been a closer race. I think with your intake, your car is probably making as much power as the mustang is, while weighing the same (or your car is lighter a bit?).

Does anyone know, in terms of ratio, whether there are more G35 sedan 6MT or TL 6MT (ie, which has higher ratio, G35 6MT vs 5AT, or TL 6MT vs 5AT)?

i took my spare tire out. a few weight loss from the stock intake(I was trying to carry stock intake myself and it was bit heavy....around 10~15lbs i think).

It was for Sure that TLS would have won Handsdown. But Because of your Great Launching Technique, You Pulled more on them than launchin regular. SO CONGRATS!
Now check on some more sticky and thick tires. I think you can go up to 245 on the stock Wheels, just look for some Sticky Tires and than check the results.

ok. i will do that. i need to work on my launch little more. still spinning a little. good drivers never squeal......they just take off; as you've seen drag racers on youtube, and etc etc. comptech needs to come up with better performance part for TL-S. I'm not getting procats 'cause it won't do any good really.........600cell to 200cell.....just forget it.

im not really sure about any mods for 07TLS yet. But until something good drops in. Keep practicin your launch.
I don have 3G so i don have a Handbrake its legbrake.
My launching technique is VSAOFF, i Use 1-2 D3 -D4. Tires Slippin is not not VSA OFF fault, its the tires. i need some too . check out www.tirerack.com they have great reviews for tires.

nice kill...

but i dunno lostkhan...i've noticed my wheels spinning with VSA off and not with it on...you just can't floor it from a dig with VSA off...from my experience anyways, my wheels spun for a split second with VSA off, so i've learned how to overcome that...and this is with almost 8 month old tires...

for launching, you can always try starting in L and then shifting into SS mode...but beware, shifting into SS mode from L above 4k rpm will auto-shift your car from 2nd to 3rd...this applies to 04-06 TL's...

they spin just a little with it on But as soon as they do, the computer cuts the power so you never get a good launch. in my opinion, in order to get a good launch, you have to have your VSA OFF. Atleast for me since i dont have a handbrake i have legbrake

I think there's a supercharger available to the TL-S, one of our members posted some videos of his TL-S AT with the supercharger beating a few relatively fast cars. I assume the supercharger would also work on the 6MT and the result could only be even better. Lostkhan, may be it's time for you to do a 6MT conversion, then you can get the handbrake as well!

Tires, I was doing some research a while back ago, and I narrowed down to the Toyo Proxes 4 and Yokohama Avid V4S. I am not sure if these tires are better than the OEM ones on your TL-S though. Do you have the optional summer tires? Also consider the tires on the new G35S and IS350, those tires are better than the ones on the TL-S (yes, even better than the optional summer tires).

Yea, I don't know how much that kit would cost though, but for sure it can give you some useful power.

these tires are no doubt better than the stock TL-S's... We just put the Toyo Proxes 4 for my sisters e46 330i and what an improvement!!! these tires are comfortable and will last awhile as well.. These stick to the ground like glue.. Also, check out Toyo T1R's.. although they don't last as long as The Proxes4, they are proven to be better.. Bad part is, they are a little bit more expensive as well... But VERY good tires if you are the racer type..

man the T1Rs are way out of my budget lol (still a university student...). I thought the TL-S has some pretty nice OEM tires too, instead of some crappy michelin or something. But no doubt, Proxes 4s are nice, they look so aggressive, I wonder how they perform in the rain though, I am not too satisfied with the Avid V4S, but then I guess I shouldn't expect that much in wet condition...haha
