Alright, I tried to get my front grille painted awhile ago and now it is chipped/battered and bruised aka looks like total shit...

Was wondering if anyone was successful on cleaning off all the chrome off the grille and having the paint stick on..

Or maybe there are different grilles i can purchase online??

I used search and google search (blacked out grill acurazine, black grill acurazine ect..)

 

You may want to try primer made for plastic to prep it for painting.....

 

Duplicolor also sells a spray can of adhesive promotor that they highly recommend, look into that as well. I heard good things about it, no need to sand the chrome with that stuff, which is what its intended for.

I've heard some heavy duty cleaners will strip the plastic coating, or loosen it so it can be brushed/scrubbed off down to the raw plastic. This would be ideal to prime/paint.

I would not rely on a chemical bond alone, especially for front end parts. The front end can get beat up a bit. Do your best to get good chemical adhesion and mechanical adhesion.

I've used adhesion promoter, along with scuffing/sanding for the front emblem. Held up fine for me.
