07 TL-S Aspec Lip Installation Question

When installing the TL-S Aspec lip, do you keep the lower grille in or take it off? In the installation instruction, it says take them out, however I've seen in many pictures people have the lip and I can see the mesh grille behind. If it can stay, is there anything I have to do to have them both on together? Thanx

this member's pic shows it without the lower mesh grille:

but these people have the lower mesh grille:

So what extra modification, if any does it need?

If anyone needed to know in the future, from what I gathered from another member, all you have to do is remove the chrome strip. This way you can retain the mesh lower grille behind the Aspec lip.

Guys, I'm doing the install right now and am stuck on this exact location. I've modified the lower grill assembly by removing the chrome strip, cutting off the fog lamp portion and another tab at the top. The parts fit together with a small gap of about 1/8-2/8" in this area and I'd like to know if the extra 3M heavy duty tape I'm using will/is supposed to take care of this gap.

I've been playing with this for 2 hours FTL and like the mesh look better than removing it. Anyone help please???

^^^update. We finished the front and back yesterday. The front lower grill assembly simply needed a little work around in order to get it to fit. I removed a little more plastic from the lower grill assembly and that gave me the extra 1/4" or so that seemed to do the trick. Lots of 3M heavy duty tape also helped out.

The fitment is clean all throughout except for the wheel well location. It seems to stick out a little there and I might go back into add a little extra stick in those corners. I'm a perfectionist so that could be part of the problem.

Anyways, I appreciate the OP following up on this thread and bringing some sort of a conclusion to it. I had to do a little more than remove the chrome strip.

If you have the time, tools and a friend to help, you should be able to knock it out over the weekend. The front, IMO, is the toughest portion.

just to let you know when you install it take the front and rear bumper off and look on the inside of it and you will see where you need to make the holes. its already marked for you.

Just a tip. I bought Clear lexan XL-10 from home Depot and epoxied it to the inside of the fog opening of the lip. I did this to protect the fogs from being shattered.
