07 TL Rear Turn Signal Mod

Hi, guys,
I just changed my rear turn signal to LED bulbs, with the yellow/amber leds, and i found out when they are flashing, the color of the housing turns into yellow/amber color, turn them off and just look normal(red color).
I thinks this is COOL, so just want to let people know!!

Thanks.

Here are the photos and videos:

I've been thinking (only thinking) about having the turn indicator yellow, but thought the Red lens would ruin it.

How does this work? Why doesn't it turn Orange? I don't get it? Hmmm.

Looks pretty good though. Is the color a good clear yellow/amber in person?

What happens when the parking lights are on - is that section lit?

How'd you do the replacement? What bulbs/LED's?

Ok, all i did is changed the back two signals bulbs, get 2 yellow led bulbs, and 2 load resistors(6ohms,50watts). because the led bulbs are yellow more than amber, i tried the amber coated bulb and still look red when is flashing.

The color actually more yellow has a very slight red like 90%yellow 10% red when is on.

and the rear turn signals only for flashes, park lights are with the brake lights.

The bulbs i am using is this:

Good info - thanks.

I've always thought the Yellow/Amber rear turn signals were safer than Red. They're much easier to differentiate from brake lights IMHO.

Where did you mount the load balancers? How are they mounted - tape, velcro, screw ... ?

Is up to you( i mounted them behind the trunk liners) as long as you don't let the load resistor contact with any plastic because they get hot when the signal lights are on. i tried to put the signal light on for a minute, and they get really warm already. so mount the on the metal and stay away for plastic stuff like that then is fine!!

Interesting. I also thought they would come out orange, that's why I didn't try it. If I had known, I would have tried amber instead of red. The camera seems to amplify/exaggerate the orange but I bet they are more amber in person. I have tints on my tail-light as well so I'd want to see what color it would throw out. I have a feeling that would make it more orange as well. I'd only want to do this if they are amber and really close to the front signal color.

Rocky, you're an ingenious and industrious fellow, pop out those tails, cut 'em open, remove the "turn signal" part of the red lens and pop in some SMT Amber LED's.

Piece of cake for a guy with your mad skilz; You'd probably be done by lunch time.

I considered it...maybe I'll do it next year. I wanted to be the first to clear the signals like ua6spec except with 04-06 tails with rockblockers.

I had a lot of other mods as priority so it's had me busy for awhile. I still have much to do till summer so the tails are fine for awhile.
