If i get a Switch blade key does anyone know how much the dealership will charge for key cutting and reprogramming?

Reprogramming cost varies from dealer to dealer.

I got mine reprogrammed for 55 bucks heheh

I got my key cut for free, but I bought it from them.

Can't you get a switchblade shell for $20 and swap out the inernals? Some dealerships can cut your key for free, as well. Depends on where you go.

Nope just straight up reprogramming the remote itself.

Yeah it worked perfect! You just have to make sure you know what key is the Memory 1&2. From what my friend said this is what they charge you to do at a dealer!

And this will allow the "Driver 1 / Driver 2 Detected" to remain the same?!

Programming the remote is easy.

You can bring it to the dealer and get them to program it for free, or do it yourself using the guide posted.

Programming the immobilizer (chip in the key) yourself, is impossible unless you have a few grand sitting around to buy yourself the machine to do it.

It's a chip inside the key, that prevents theft.

So even if you get a key cut exactly the same as the old one, your car wouldn't start up.

It's nice.
If you lose your key, and buy a new one and get your keys re-programmed, whoever finds your old key can't drive your car away.

They can still get in your car door though lol.

If someone buys a used key, can the dealer cut a brand new key and attach it to the switchblade?

I don't think so =(

They won't "mod" the switchblade in any way so you can get a different key in there.
They'll always try to sell you the switchblade with the key and remote.

If you really want the switchblade key, buy it off heeltoe, and just get your dealer to cut the key and program the immobilizer.

Might run you a couple hundred dollars in total.
Don't know if you want to spend that much.

the dealer around me wanted over $100 to program the key. but apparently there are locksmiths now that are able to program as well as cut the key.

There is a big difference between the 04-06 vs 07-08 keys.
Our very good member CSMEANCE did research on this with a very nice FAQ. However he no longer does these mods.

However our vendor Healtoe does these mods.

The hardest and expensive part is getting the key cut. The 07-08 keys are thicker than the 04-06 keys. If you look at the FAQ on the link, you have to machine down the thickness to match the thickness of the 04-06 keys. Only then you can bring it to a locksmith and get it cut and programmed. Healtoe offers diffent options getting it machine down and cut and you go to your local dealer/ locksmith and get it programmed.
