'07-'08 Type S lights on '06 TL

I was wondering if anyone could help me out on this. I am going to put 07-08 Type S Headlights on my 06 TL. My 06 has the fogs built into the headlamp, and I know that the 07-08 Headlights have the DRL's in the place of the fogs on the 06. So my question is, will my fog lights fit in the spot of the DRL's so I can still use my stock fog lights?

if you're "upgrading" the head lights to 07-08's you're going to lose your fog lights.

that is a trade off that you're going to have to live with.
if its not something that you would like, dont do the mod and keep your 06 head lights.

The 06 tl fog lights are a HB4 bulb the 07-08 has a HB3 bulb all you have to do is get different bulbs. The turn single bulb is different also the 06 has a blade style bulb 7443... The Type S bulb is a 1157 bulb. They say to use a Amber bulb but you can use any 1157 you want... You will need a new turn single socket OEM Part #33302-SR3-A01 $11.75 each and a new connector (for the socket) OEM # 04321-SR3-308 $ 12.43 only comes in a 5 pack sorry. The control unit for the HID is different but the 06 ones will work so I have heard...
this is everything I can think of right now.

^wouldnt the functionality of the fogs be lost?

sure, you could technically put the bulbs there. but then it would be a DRL

You wouldn't loose the fog light function if you took the connector off of the existing fog light and installed the connector for the HB3 bulb
OEM # 04321-SH3-305 31.50 only comes in a 5 pack

Thanks for the info. I knew about the corner lights. So Just to clarify, all I will need is to get the HB3 bulb and those will work as my fog lights in the 07-08 lights?

Sorry to keep bugging you. But I ordered the new sockets today with the part number you gave me, as well as the connectors. I was just wondering why the part numbers for these in the 07 tl is different, and just wanted to make sure its ok to go with the 08 part numbers you gave me? Or does it matter?

2007-2008 headlights use 9005 (or HB3) for their DRLs.
9005 and 9006 are technically the same bulb, the tabs point different directions. Also SOME 9005 and 9006 bulbs have an extra guide-tab between the prongs.
Just buy 9005 bulbs for your headlights.

You will still have the fog-option. HOWEVER.
You'll blind everyone like a mother-fuhhhhhh as the 2007-2008 headlights do not have a cut-off-nipple.

low beam + 100% power DRL [basically what your fogs will be like]

Thanks man. So I won't need to get new plugs for the lights either?

In terms of the DRL/Fog nope. You're good to go with just buying 9005s. You might need to modify the guide-tab [if it has it].

You will need new sockets for your turn signal bulbs though.
OR, you can bore out the turn signal socket on the 07-08 headlights to accomodate the 7443s.

Also BEWARE. Running your fogs for extended periods of times will potentially cause your shrouds to melt.
The shrouds and the reflector aren't made to handle 100% wattage, DRLs run only at 50% wattage.

Also take a look at this for solution for the turn signal bulbs and a pic of the melted shroud:

Both way will work. It all depends on how much work you are willing to do.

Im with 04Komodo. Using bulbs will melt shrouds if using fogs. I suggest going with LED bulbs they use less heat!

How would I go about finding an LED light that will fit in the headlight properly? Or do they sell one for that socket?

I made a small write up for a solution to the corner bulb. https://acurazine.com/forums/showthread.php?t=814655

For the LED bulb they do sell 9006 LED's

Something like >> http://store.ijdmtoy.com/9006-HB4-LE...9006_sku46.htm

PS: I am not recommending those bulbs, just what came up when i googled it.

Thanks man. Are the led hb3's as bright as the regular hb3's? Do you think they would be ok to leave on all the time? Thanks for the post on corner lights, but I already ordered all the stuff to convert them
