07-08 TL Type-s Question/Experience
07-08 TL Type-s Question/Experience
Question: Does anyone know if the 07-08 Type-S comes with just an A/V headphone jack to connect your IPod or if there is an option for a full USB hook-up for your Ipod?
Experience: I've been looking into buying a Type-S 6spd MT for quite some time, but just recently I started the hot and heavy search for one. Since I am from TX, the opportunity for one is scarce and hard to come by. Well, two of them popped up in Austin, TX and so I had my Bro-in-law go do a preliminary check for me. Couple of weeks later I decided to drive up and give them a test drive.
Well I test drove the first one and man, the car felt awesome! Chirping the tires in second was not a hard thing to do at all and even my sister, who is drastically safety conscious, was having a good time in the car. The only thing that was a deal breaker for me was the high price, high mileage, and level of wear on the interior, driver seat in particular.
So I went and test drove the second one. Now this one was loaded with the A-spec underbody spoiler kit and the factory chrome 5-spoke wheels. It looked awesome, so I took this one for a test drive. Performance-wise, the car felt every little bit as awesome as the last one I drove no more than an hour ago. But I did feel some shaking probably from the brakes being warped. And right before I got back to the dealership, the car sales man asked me to punch it once more before we got back in. I guess he liked it just as much as the last car salesman and my sister did. Well, this time I slammed the accelerator and I noticed the yellow triangle light blinking and the car felt a little hesitant with this one. I didn't know what it was but it sort of fixed itself and the car began to pick up speed faster.
So anyways, I decided to deal with some numbers and do the haggling thing with these guys since this one was basically everything that I was looking for (A-spec kit, low mileage, and interior was in good shape). One of the things I asked them if they could do was switch out the chrome wheels with the standard gunmetal wheels. I prefer those and the chrome ones weren't my cup of tea.
Well, to make the rest of this story short, the sales manager came out and began to argue with me about how the 07 Type-S didn't come with the gunmetal wheels and that it was a 08 thing only and basically said he couldn't do it. So I got frustrated and ended up leaving. The original car salesman expressed his apologies because he knew that what had just happened to me wasn't right either. How F'd up is that? I couldn't believe the treatment I got with this dealership.
So, sorry for the long post, but just thought I'd share my experience with you all. Awesome car all around, though, now I'm 100% sold on getting one.

I can answer 1 question lol the yellow blinking light was traction control. Once you hit the gas it engaged, cutting the power so the wheels would stop burning out but once that was under control, full power was back on. That's when you felt the fast acceleration. I love that feeling!
Sorry if that was confusing but everyone knows what I'm talking about lol don't worry about it and just focus on getting the price down to where you want it.
Sorry to hear about the dick manager! If he wants a sale he should work with you, who knows maybe you'll be getting a call back from him.
Keep in mind the Type-S 6MT is a rare vehicle! Good luck and welcome to Azine!

Yup as mentioned the triangle light is traction control. So obviously the tires wanted to let loose :-) And thats also why it felt hesitant. Youve never had a car with traction control before?
Anyway sounds like some nice cars however I agree that sales manager is a clueless moron. He doesnt know that both 07 and 08 Type S's come with the exact same wheels. Man it never ceases to amaze me how cluelesss people are at dealerships.
He is wrong they come with same wheels sounds like one just had the a-spec wheels on it.

The blinking light you saw was the VSA (Vehicle Stability Assist) working, your tires were slipping and it turned on to prevent your "burnout".
What the sales manager said to you is 100% incorrect. The 07 and 08 TL-S came with 17 inch gunmetal rims with Michelin Grand Touring Tires or Bridgestone High Performance Summer Tires. If the owner got the A-spec Package, they would have gotten the choice of either Sparkle Silver, Chrome or Ebony Chrome 18" A-Spec wheels.
If anything, the sales-manager should have been more than happy to switch out the rims so he could put these chrome ones on another car and make some more $$$. I suggest you call Acura Client Services and tell them your experience with the Sales Manager.
can you tell me what were the prices they were offering and what were the exact mileages on the TL-S? I am in the same position and will be going to the dealership next week. They have a 07 WDP TL-S with 41k and aspec kit.

Ah, VSA. Makes sense. No, I've never had a car with VSA before. Thanks to all of you who responded. Anyways, I'd rather not say the name of the dealership I went to, but they are located along IH-35, hehe.
So, when I got home that night (after making this post), I decided to prove myself right. So I pulled up the quickest website showing a Blue 07 TL-S with the gunmetal wheels on it and sent it to the salesman that was helping me. I told him to show it to the sales manager. Well, the next day, the dealership literally called me 10 times (8 from the salesman, 1 from the General Sales Manager, and 1 from the co-owner). I finally called back and spoke to the co-owner and explained to him the entire story. Well, I tried to use the situation to my advantage and asked if he could come down anymore on the price. When I first went, they gave me an offer of 28K + TTL and the car had 25K miles on it. It was an awesome offer, but the co-owner was not able to bring it down anymore and he also told me that they would switch out the wheels, but I had to pay them to do it! I'm just completely disappointed with the way this dealership is handling the situation, but I guess it should have been expected...it's just salesman out to get as much as they can get.
So I'm for sure on a hot and heavy search for a 07-08 TL-S 6spd MT. I sold my 2000 Accord yesterday and am now car-less!

hahaha everytime I read "Hot and Heavy" it makes me laugh.....
Don't settle for less than what you want. 28k+++ for a car is a huge purchase. Find the one you like and haggle your ass off. This is a buyers market. Good luck man.

To completely answer your question, one dealership was offering a 2007 Carbon Bronze TL-S 6spd MT with 36K miles on it for 28,500 and the other one was a 2007 NBP TL-S 6spd MT with 25K miles for 28K and this one had the A-spec lip kit on it and the 5 spoke 18" A-spec wheels in the dark chrome color. Good luck to you, I've been looking around for a good deal for a while and rarely come across them. Too bad I wasn't really serious about getting one until recently. Just gotta wait for the deals to start rolling in again.
Thanks but I went ahead and passed on the deal. After speaking with the Co-Owner, who basically just came at me like another salesman, I decided to just wait for the next deal to come along.
