'07 or '04 taillights?
so im planning on buying the tl type s tail lights for my 04 tl, cutting it open removing the diffusers and wrapping the reflector in cf. but before i buy, i was wondering if i should buy the 04 or 07 tls taillights? is their a difference? i searched the forums but i cant seem to find a thread showing the difference.

Type-S was only made in 07 and 08...
04 tails are solid red

Actually, I'd just put Type-S lights as from the factory and call it a day. They look nice as is, dress up the back of a pre-07 TL, and there's no extra work.

Maybe custom tails from AckTL05? Unless you're experienced in doing your own tails then more power to you.

I have an 05 and I installed slightly modified 07-08 tails. It all depends on the look you're trying to go for. I didn't install TL-S tails because everybody has em.
I wanted something different and subtle which is why I had my 07-08 tails modded a bit.
