'06 vs '05 TL?

I've searched a ton and can't find a thread comparing the '05 TL to the '06 TL. I found a thread talking about what members *thought* the differences may be but nothing based on actual differencec? If I missed such a thread can someone plesae point me in the direction of such a thread? If it doesn't exist, what are some of the differences? I am looking for a TL and if the differences are minor or I can live with them I might try and pick up a '05 and save some $$$. TIA .

I know this is .... can't think of anything else.....

New for 2006, the TL is equipped with a direct Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS). Using a series of four sensors and four initiators (one for each tire) and a receiver to capture and relay information, the system alerts the driver when it detects that tire pressure in one or more tires drops significantly below the recommended pressure.

The main additions on the '06 TL is the TPMS (tire pressue monitoring system) and revamped engine management to minimize torque steer.

Apart from that, the cars are essentially the same.

Also- The backlight on the non navi Dash screens changes from whiteish (05) to blue(06) and there is an additional powertrain warranty on the 06- (6 yr 70k) I am looking at the same decision- (a marked down 05... ) For what it is worth - I got them to go to 1250 under invoice on a nopn navi 05. (Sticker + destination = 29500...) taxes lic, options extra...

What about the HP difference.. from what I understand it went from 270 to 258. Is that true? I have an 05 an love it.
I was at the dealer for service today and they gave me a 06 loaner and told me hp has been reduced this year for better mpg. If it is true, will it be slower?
Dealer of course claims no, but I'm not so sure about that one..

completly incorrect. they just use a different way to get the HP numbers, both years have same power, if you took the 05 and got the number how they are doing it now, you would get the same as the 06

I had an 05 - wife hit a deer

Now have an 06 Navi and the car (I know this is going to sound strange) is much more enjoyable to drive. The 05 would drop into 5th gear quicker and vibrate something aweful. If you manually shifted it back into 4th, it would be fine. Three different sets of tires and no avail. The 06 shifts quicker and the pedal doesn't feel nearly as heavy. Whatever changes they did to the engine management did wonders for the car. The 06 also doesn't have the rattles that the 05 did. They probably whipped assembly line people into shape after all the complaints on the 04 and 05 models.

If you get to choose. Definitely go with the 06. That is a first hand opinion from someone who owned both.

I think you need to find a new dealership; or at least a new sales person. Please search on the HP difference. Its been discussed many times on this forum (at least once a week). Simple answer: same engine, new power ratings.

The mat layout is different. Probably newer nav too (doubt they'd update their 05 discs) Significantly less rattle issues too from what I hear.
