06 hp ratings
06 hp ratings
Im sure this well known by others not including myself, but what are the reasons for the differnt hp and ft/lb ratings for the 06TL. Was it de-tuned or anything, or just measured differently. Are there any peromance effects?
I had the same question...the following is the answer, courtesy of member Tony'sTL:
No drop in power....just an optical illusion.
The motors make the identical power output....Big Brother decided that the manufacturers needed to rate the engines SAE power, not STD power which is higher because its rated at a lower air temp and higher barometric pressure (both situations condusive to the same engine producing more power). Essentially a 258 HP engine (SAE) makes 270 HP if rated at STD.
The only thing that really changed was simply the way they rated the power output....the engine and its performance is identical.

Please learn how 270 became 258 in the big TL hp change for 2006 thread. This thread is now
