05 TL vs Cop's Radar Gun

well i was going down a stretch of pitch black straight road and just wanted to do a little cruising and did about 95mph RIGHT pass a cop car , who must of just got there because my escort x50 didn't go off yet...

BUT right after i saw that cop i braked until i was down to the speed limit of 35mph, and BOOM my radar goes crazy... but the cop didn't bother to chase me

but i heard that the law was, the cop would have to show me the radar run if i asked for it, and to bad for him... when he gunned me i was down to the speed limit, also his amber lights weren't even on (a rule i also heard about)... and this rule was apparent in this case because when i looked in my rear view mirror his amber suddenly turned out (at first i thought he was getting ready to chase me when he turned them on ).. so hopefully anyone going down that road after me, makes worth the money they spent on their radar.

but yup i just wanted to share this story... because some of us can't beat this no matter how many mods we put in our car

so i guess this is another win for the 3G TL.

95mph in a 35

Another Darwin award candidate here!!

Your states laws may vary, here- they can hide in a private/commercial driveway and say they were in plain view- yeah, if you were coming the other way!

^ 80 on 35mph zone is still crazy........

the cop had just gotten there, should he decided to pull you out and give you a ticket... you'll still have to show up to the court and fight it. You were just lucky that he didn't pull out or noticed you were driving that fast. They don't need a radar gun to give you a ticket, the cop can lie and write you a crazy ticket... make you worry and show up the court. If he's tight with the Judge, you'll still get screwed......

who's words is he gonna believe? yours vs his.... know what I mean?

There are some great roadrace tracks in the Pacific Northwest

Check them for 1 day High Peformance Driving School
where you drive your car with a pro race driver in the right seat teaching you the line, braking, apexing and overall car control. ON a safe controlled race track!

The price in my area is $250 for a great day.
That's less than the ticket for reckless and speeding and anything else they have local
issues about.
Be smart
Take it to the track, on the street- there are innocent people you may kill.

He could easily have given you a ticket for reckless driving. That's a judgment-based call, not one that needs proof like speeding.

a radar detector does not make you invisible/invincible... my V1 is my nightvision goggles but i still need to keep my eyes open when im driving... there are many ways a cop can still get you for speeding... Laser will screw you even if your radar catches the signal...

If you're going at least 20 miles over the speed limit, you DESERVE the ticket... even on the freeway.

yea i guess you're right, i don't push my car if ever, only when im sure no ones around, never been in a race or anything, so that stretch of road i thought was my only safe haven... yea he could got me for somthing other than speeding, but for speeding i believe i do have the right to see my clocked speed... but for any other offense, i would lost...

there are some states that you actually can't have radar detectors in the United States. I think Virginia is one of them. I used to go down to the Volkswagen bug-out events with my Father every year and he'd always take the radar off when we got near the state line. They seem to like taking them off your car then and running them over with their cruisers some times. And you still get fined!!! fucked up, huh? lol!

in cali, the gun has to be present and calibrated. he has to show you document of the gun being calibrated within a certain time frame. but then he can always get you for reckless driving for a misdemeanori think.

If you cant afford $250 for a track day where you will drive faster and harder than you ever imagined, for a solid full throttle full brakes -20 minutes at a time...

My question to you then Sir is this-
Where are you going to get the money for the multiple tickets, possible IMPOUND of your car, JAIL BAIL if thats what the Cop decides?
OR repairs to the the car when your totally untrained self makes a move the car wont
handle- or the tire blows or an animal appears and you slide and tumble?
I have seen it all !

And Canuks- detectors ar not legal in all states, Laser radar is instant on- so too late
and as others said- detectors are just an extra pair of eyes for you.

There are jammers and front of car spray on coatings that deflect the radar like a stealth bomber- search internet and you will find

In California
You can ask to see the display locked in the radar

You have no right beyond that UNTIL you get to court

And then its YOUR job to supeona ALL the documents about the Officers training and recurrent training, the guns testing and calibration, calibration that day records,
last FACTORY service, and some others.

If the State fails to produce even one document you need in your defense- you win!
If the Cop shows up and has his notes, in car camera film etc, your cooked!

Arguing your case by the roadside with the Officer is of no use, will be in his notes, and
just MAY cause them to question if you are using drugs or alcohol
Then you are interfering, then resisting, failing to comply
Can you say Chrome Bracelets?

Not to give away all of LE Officers tricks-
but

If they are using radar they also may have a measured and marked- sometimes discreetly-road distance within line of sight where they can time-clock you thru a measured distance, and that backs up the radar gun.

Ever notice those white stripes sideways to the edge of freeway and some mountain roads- every 1/2 mile or mile?
Guess what airplanes use to check your speed then call down to a car ahead of you

distance / time= speed

Hate to see anyone hurt or killed by unskilled high speed driving
Looking back at my youth I am surprised to have even survived.
The cars today are way faster and the other drivers on the street
way less attentive to the road- cell phones, SUVs, illegal alien drivers, DUIs....

And I read about another street racing death every day, here in a moderate size town-
not even a city so to speak

Today was approaching 2 lane underpass, one car swerves- other car over-reacts and plows into the railroad bridge concrete support column, not pretty, not survivable.
Other car took off- extra charges when caught include Manslaughter

Sometimes its the 17-25 year old driver, sometimes its the 45 year old school teacher who pulls out from the shopping mall parking lot and gets T-boned by racers or speeders going 80+ in a 35.

In My Opinion, if you are not track licensed and trained, you are
just being Reckless and a Public Endangerment

Then again- I know several LE Officers from the race track- so real life experience when I was young and stupid, and their stories told over beers- thats what I share here.

Stay Smart Stay Alive
The guy you see speeding and weaving thru traffic MAY be a Felon running from the Cops
Certainly you have seen such chases on TV end badly for the car sitting at the light or just cruising through the green light

Just like your Mother taught you
Look Left- Look Right - Look Left Again!

Maybe you should call the Police and report dangerous driving on the road by you!
Suppose you or a loved one is out for a walk late at night, black pants and jacket,
decide to cross the street and
BANG!

Karma and street racing kill or something like that
