05 TL pricing

I made some calls to a few dealers today for pricing on a new '05 TL black/ebony with 6MT and Nav. The lowest price I was quoted was $33,300. Does that sound reasonable in general, or specifically for MA?

Edmunds says
$35,100 MSRP
$31,985 Invoice
$34,041 TMV
+
$570 destination.

I did a search in this forum and found a couple posts on people's prices and it seemed within range. I thought $33,300 was reasonable...any thoughts? I'm going to try and bargain a bit more when I go for a test drive tomorrow, but I wanted to hear some opinions if anyone has any.

I would say go for somewhere in between Invoice and TMV. They can do it. They get additional incentives where they make money from Acura corporate when the dealership buys the car.

Btw, be prepared to wait for 6mt w/Navi for a loooong time. I've been waiting a month now and I think the earliest I can get the car is mid-may. This is why I'm pissed off.

I'm going to test drive Audi A6 3.2 quattro this weekend, because if dealerships in my area don't get their shit together I'm buying Audi.

I paid 33,500 with navi for 6MT. I think 33,300 sounds pretty good. Some guys I know paid 33,700-33,800 last fall.

I would say it sounds reasonable.

When I was in the market back in early Feb '05, one dealer quoted me $33K before taxes. This price included the transportation charge, all-season mats, mud flaps, and wheel locks.

I was shown a letter from Honda that after mid-Feb, there was an across-the-board price increase due to the price of steel. So the price for any TL built after that time was increased to $33.2K.

I could not wait so I took the 6MT without the Navi. With same dealer-installed add-ons, my price was $31,550.

Oh, I am in Michigan, specifically the Detroit metro area.

Thanks for the feedback everyone. I believe all three dealerships I spoke with said they had the car I listed in stock, so it didn't sound like I would have to wait for that config. Two of them had to get back to me to confirm it was in stock, and the other said they had one while I was on the phone. I may find out differently tomorrow, but who knows...I may luck out.

Parker75, how did you get them to throw in some dealer add-ons? Did you ask, or did they offer?

Handruin,

I did ask and I was pleasantly surprised to learn that my dealer included it for the price I bought on the 6MT ABP/Quartz non-Navi.

I even got them to swap out the trunk liner (default deal) with the all-season mats which I thought was more useful.

Good luck!

i'm sure you can get it at $33k or even a bit less. i paid 31k for my 6MT/non navi... this was last friday, in michigan. i've seen people paying less... so, since the dealer invoice for the navi is probably around 1700, i'd offer 32.5 and see if they bite. since you have more than one dealership in your area, you can just call them and says you were offered 32.5, and see if they can beat it. the least they'll do is match it or give you their lowest possible price.

parker75 - did you get yours from suburban acura or acura of troy?

p.s. ask them how much the trunk tray is... and then tell them to keep it and instead subtract that amount from the final price. imo, it's completely useless. maybe i'm doing something wrong, but i can't even use the small trunk net on the side without bending the sh!t out of the tray... and everything slides around much more easily on the shiny, non-gripping surface. i guess it'd come handy when you need to haul a bloody dead body in the trunk - so thoughtful of acura.

I like my trunk tray, but I don't use the nets. If you want to use the nets with a trunk tray, you have to make a slit in the tray where the net anchors are, and then remove the anchor and put it back over the trunk tray.

I went for a test drive today and talked numbers with the sales guy. He came back with a price of $33,095 for the TL with nav and 6mt (a trade-in for my TSX would amount to 18,500...bleh). I talked to the guy about leasing, since it seems I can never keep my cars for longer than two years...I guess I get bored easily. I still haven't decided on the lease, nor do I have any experience with it.

The test drive wasn't long enough for me. I went to a dealer that was out of my normal area, so I was slightly pre-occupied with navigating unfamiliar roads. Plus, I was in an unfamiliar car, so I was extra precautious with my driving.

In comparison to my current 04 TSX, the TL definitely feels like a heavier, quieter ride. The suspension felt slightly softer than I was used to in my TSX, but still commendable. The V6 paired with the 6 speed was a nice combination. I noticed the odd grab-point that I've read about in other threads. It's a different clutch than my TSX, but not too unfamiliar. During my test drive I opened up the TL in 3rd gear while entering the highway. Their is no question the v6 has ample power with a pleasant growl...almost too quiet for its own good.

The space of the back seat was an added bonus for me. I'm 6'1" and I sat in the rear seat behind the driver, while the front seat was configured for me. My knees had about an 3/4 of an inch before touching the back of the seat. I don't normally buy my cars for other people, but the room would be appreciated.

Overall I felt good about the car. I'd like to test drive again to soak in some of the other amenities, and also to drive it on a more familiar road. If I can get a reasonable price on my TSX (private sale), I'll be a new TL owner soon.

ps I forgot to ask them how much the trunk tray would cost.

32,625 at Open Road Acura in Wayne, NJ for a 05TL auto with Navi, including pro-pack. Get some local dealer quotes on acura.com and see who gives you the best deal, thats how I got this one. I checked all the numbers and they did not screw me. That price with 12k down, payments of $429 for 60months at 4.49%.

What's the pro-pack? My offered price of 33,095 isn't that far away from yours. But that depends on what the pro-pack includes and what it's valued at. Thanks for a heads-up on the finance APR. I've been wondering what it's at these days.

I got mine from Jeffrey Acura.

The guy at Suburban said they would not deal. Who was your salesperson at Suburban? I ask because my brother is going to get one too - 6MT, Navi, NBP/Camel.

is that the one in roseville?

my salesperson was a lady. i think her name was norma, but not quite sure. PM me if you want her contact info.

the inventory list on their website, according to them, is up to date. so check out suburbanacura.com and see if they have the car your brother wants. both acura of troy and suburban had a lot of 5AT's, but only one or two 6MT's.

Yes, that's Jeffrey is the Acura dealer in Roseville, MI.

Also, I would like to correct what I wrote previously. It was not Suburban that was unwilling to negotiate from full MSRP; it was Troy Acura. I never made it to Suburban Acura to speak with anyone there.

Also suburbanacura.com website only lists 6MT with the summer tires, of which they only have one with Navi. I guess I will have to contact them about pricing for 6MT and Navi, no tire upgrade.

Ok, here's a question...I know that most of you would prefer new...BUT

How much for an '05 White 6MT non-nav demo w/ 3k miles?

I'd prefer black int. BUT if I could talk them into Certifying the vehicle to give me additional warranty? And, maybe I save an additional couple grand.

What's the price?

No response yet, but seriously...They haven't been able to move this car for a long time.

Getting the extended warranty on a brand new '05 for 28 or 29k? I've gotta think about it, right?

They've lowered the cost to 31,995. I still haven't spoken to them yet. I'm guessing, since they haven't moved it for a few months, I should be able to get much lower.

c'mon fellas, make me a TL owner.

Doesn't sound like a real deal when compared to ndx2's new TL for 31k on a 6MT non-nav and when I'm being quoted 33,095 for a new 6MT with nav.

For that car, I might offer them 29k-30k since it has 3k miles, but that's just me, and I don't own a TL...yet.

No, their offer will be between 28 & 29K for a new car (just 3k dealer miles) and a 5yr/62K mile warranty.

I know they're not my miles, but I could be spending less than $3,000 more than a new one.

The only loss to me is...Someone's drivin it, and I don't have my choice of color. $3,000 is $3,000.

About two months ago I picked out a black/black nav mt. 32700 including destination. with tax and such it came to 35. The black is beautiful (did you see the blue pearl in there? in the sun).

Issues so far - yea car is very quiet and its easy to over rev. Off the line when you really step on it the front end tends to shimmy. Other than that I see no faults.

For dealers in MA, I called the one in Framingham (herb chambers?) and also Acura of Auburn (Ron Buchard's). The one with the lowest price so far is in Nashua, NH (Sunnyside Acura). I've bought my other two Acura’s from the dealer in Auburn, both were positive experiences. I'm probably going to Auburn for a second test drive and also to see if they want to deal.

Sorry to be a pest.

What is a good deal for an '05 non/nav 6MT w/ 3,000 dealer miles and "Certified" ?

What would make you say "Damn, I've gotta buy it!" ?

28K? Less?

if it's a 6MT demo, i wouldn't buy it unless it was being offered for 27k or less. i highly doubt the dealer will accept this price, though.

if i were you, i would negotiate the lowest price possible, which would probably be around 29k, and lease it.

a demo is never worth buying - i have friends who work/have worked at dealerships, and a demo is usually driven like rental cars (just imagine how you'd treat a TL if it were a rental). the savings are not that great (31k new vs 29k w/ 3k driven-like-stolen miles)... definitely not worth it.

Just learned that it's not a demo. It's a return. Now, assuming the car is perfect (minus the miles) than is it a good deal.

I've got a good eye, and now a bad used car when I see one, drive one.

FWIW, both Herb Connolly in Framingham and Acura of Auburn were willing to sell a 6MT w/Navi for $32800. Acura of Auburn was a little less willing if the car was not in stock but HC didn't care.

Ask me how I know

I have one on the way for $33,555, plus their $95 "processing" fee.

It should be here tomorrow (4/21/2005) or friday.

It is Anthracite/ebony, 5AT, w/Nav.

HC came out with the lowest original price without even asking for a specific price on the phone. I haven't followed up on it though. Did you buy from one of them, or just ask for that price? I assume $32800 did not include tax & destination fee?

Talking

Just got home from Pleasanton Acura with a shiny new TL!

Silver, Ebony 5AT with Nav

In the end we paid $31,270 before TTL, with taxes and other assorted fees the OTD came to $35,350

Pretty good deal we thought!

Good time to buy I think!

to HC! I bought my NBP 6MT W/o Navi from HC in Framingham. They were great about the price and also gave me the highest trade in value for my Volvo. I just visited the two dealers in Boston and by FAR - HC s the better dealer. A of B is so pretentious. A of B = High Price + low trade after I had just seen figures for another customer at $1500 less for the same car! Go figure?
IMO - If you have a relationship with a dealer I say stick with them even though they might charge a little more. The post sales support is just as important as the sale itself.

CT pricing

Hi everyone, this is my first post
I decided to purchase a 2005 auto with nav. I'm in CT and have been looking at prices to find the best. I'm willing to go to MA, NY, or NJ to get a good deal as it is my first new car purchase. I sent out a dealer quote and got back a price of $33,000 from almost every dealer. Does this mean I could get it for cheaper? Anyone have experience buying with these area dealers?

Thanks for the help! I can't wait to join the TL owners.

I just picked up mine on Friday (Anthracite/Ebony - 5AT - w/Nav).

Got it for 35,266 after everything... it was 32,651 with their fees, etc, then add 6.3% sales tax. Not bad, right at $1000 over invoice, I dont think it was that bad of a deal considering it was about $1055 under Edmund's TMV.

I have a Moto V710 on it's way, should be here tomorrow
