05 tl base auto vs 8th gen civic
so this kid says he wants to race i was just curious to see what the outcome would be.
i have an rrp 05 tl base auto with navi
mods are
k&n typhoon cold air intake
2.5" straight pipe with rv6 v2 jpipe and race pipe
and minor weight reduction
lowered on h&r race springs and tokico blue struts
also 18" ssw rims
the civic i heard has
i/h/e and flash pro its a coupe making around 200 hp to the wheels its an si
just wondering what the outcome would be if anyone has ran an si opinions or videos would be great thanks

It'll be close from 20-50ish, but after that I think he will pull on you. I know from experience that my old AT TL with similiar mods as you can barely pull away from a SI with just CAI/E....the one you're going after has header and flashpro...which gives it almost an additional 15whp. You should give it a try still!

I played with an SI with those mods. Three rolls from around 45-50 I pulled pretty easily. From a dig, it was close until 45 or so and I started walking away.

It should be close.. but I think eventually he will pull on you.. Considering you have an automatic, and I'm guessing the SI is manual, you're putting down about the same WHP, but the TL is significantly heavier and the auto will definitely put you at a disadvantage...once you hit 3rd gear that where he'll take you..

^ how can both can put down the same WHP with not that heavily tuned? Considering both are performance engine from Honda. One is I4 and the other is V6. With those mods, that Civic won't even pass 220whp (depends on what type of dyno too).

He should pull on you from any speed. Like others said once you hit 3rd gear he will definitely walk you. If he's a decent driver it will be close, if he's a good driver you're toast. Civics with those mods are running high 13s. Don't sleep on them.

You will lose. It will be fun to run him anyway. I/H/E and flashpro they run high 13's easy and trap over 100mph. Basically with those mods on the civic si a stock TL 6MT would have a tough time keeping up.

Well.. stock 05 TL, with Auto, puts down about 210 WHP.. with his mods, he's putting down 235 at the wheel?? maybe? Keep in mind, he's got auto trans, once it shifts into 3rd.. that's it..the civic will walk him.. Keep in mind the Civic is much lighter, ~2900 lbs vs the ~3600 lbs on the TL.. and its got a nice close ratio manual trans.. I'll put my money on the Civic (even tho I don't like them very much)

Wtf are you saying? If his 1/4 mile times are low 13s in that Civic then your TL isn't stock. And if your TL is stock, then he doesn't run low 13s in the 1/4. What are his mods? Unless he has a 1.9-2.0 60' with at LEAST full bolt ons/tune.

I ran at the track but the conditions were not so good. D/A was 4900ft so I will go back in november on a really cold night with better prep and hopefully do better. With the D/A correction I was in the 14.6-14.8 range from 96-97MPH. Plus I just got my new NGK's installed today. My plugs at 89K were needing to be replaced even though the manual states 105K.
