Ok, whats the deal now with tinting the windows in the 04' TLs?
My sales guy said he didn't suggested it because of some scratching from something?

Can someone explain?

And if its possible to tint, how do I go about it without the scratches? What do I need to look for in my home town or ask the tint shops if they can do?

Do search on tinting... Go to GARAGE thread it explains how you need to put felt/moleskin on the window wipers to eliminate scratches.

 

you need moleskin, it's free, just search for it.

 

I need someone to explain all this to me, I'm not a car guy, very noobie at car talk...I just drive it.
What do I need to do with moleskin? Is this something I should have a tint place do? I live in Oklahoma, any tint places here to trust?

Ask your tinter to put felt/moleskin inside the window wiper and he'll know what to do. Due to this plastic wiper you'll get scrathces on the tint if you do not put these in.

 

i have tints on my car (20%) but they havent scratched yet and i dont have moleskin put on the plastic wipers. the guy i did it from was pretty good and reliable and although it was the first 04 TL he did it wasnt the first time he had run into the extra hard wipers on the windows. The new Accords also have really hard plastic wipers but the reason people usually get scratches is cuz they roll their windows down prematurely after its tinted. i asked him about the moleskin but he said i didnt need it as long as i dont open my windows for 5 days minimum for the tint to fully dry onto the glass or it will scratch and he was right. i got the tints done about a month and a half ago and still no scratches. so all u really have to do is not use ur windows for about 5-7 days.

 

You need my mole skin KIT with two sets of directions.

 

I have 35% tints on my SSM. Looks awesome. From some angles I wish it was a bit darker though.

I'm in OKC and my tinter never heard of such a thing as installing moleskins, didn't even have the material to do it even if he knew what it was and denied me needing it. Kind of understandable since there are hardly any TL's here in OKC much less Acura's (except Integra's and RSX's).
