'04 TL vs '05 IS 330
Just wondering if anyone has seen any spy photos or hears anything about the redesigned Lexus IS 330 coming out later this year. My wife drives a Lexus and I must say that the craftsmanship and attention to detail that Lexus puts in to cars is first class. I am sure that some people that are going to consider buying a TL are going to at least wonder what the new IS will be like.

I've already bought my 04 TL and am really really happy with it but i had wished that the new IS 330 would have come out at the same time so i could cross shop the two. But either way i think i still came out with the winner.

Has this IS re-design been confimed? I have not heard about it, although Lexus is WAY overdue to an engine upgrade. They are far behind the competition at this point.
That being said, I also really like the IS. Interior and exterior styling is very nice (could use a little more interior space, though).

it has been confirmed. They are upgrading the motor in the re-design. The IS300 is a great vehicle. If the IS300 came with the current G35 motor, it would be a great competitor, but for now, 220-225hp just aint cutting it for me.. I'd be nice to see the new IS when it hits showrooms in the fall.

I haven't seen anything about the next IS. The current IS came out as a 2001 model, meaning that the next IS redesign won't come until the 2006 model year, if they're keeping with the 5 year model run schedule. But the IS was out in Japan as the Altezza a couple years before it came to the states, so who knows.
But Lexus has shown the next GS, and it will come as a MY2006. It doesn't make sense that the IS will come as a MY2005, since they haven't shown it yet.
Also, I think that the next IS will get the all-new 245hp/225 torque 3.0 V6 that will be in the next GS300, and not the 3.3L engine in the ES330 and the V6 Camry SE.

That is a very old pic and total garbage at this point. The next IS will have an AWD option as well as come in 2 door, 4 door, wagon and convertible forms to totally take on the 3 series. We have seen no pics but it will have some of the LF-S styling cues.
jrock65, the IS actually has been sold since 1998 as the Altezza overseas. It was brought here in 2001 as you stated. The 2JZ will not be used any longer (sigh).

Okay, so no truth to an upgraded IS.
I am totally clear on which car we are talking about, and yes, there is no IS coupe like the photochop shows.
I like the IS and would love to see another 30 HP or so.
