'04 TL Rental

Does anyone know if it is possible to rent an '04 TL ?

I am flying to Ft Myers this week and would rather not be stuck in a Cavalier or Impala and being that I have been considering trading my '03 Mitsubishi Evolution for an '04 TL this might be the perfect situation for me to try the car out for a few days.

Wow, its never dawn on me!

Why is it that only American cars are able to be rented???
Wait a minute, I know 'exotic' import cars can be rented. Yet, I've never seen major Japanese and European automobiles for rent at your chain rent-a-car place.

Well, if Hertz or any other rental company wanted to, they could buy Hondas and rent them out. But whats the point when American carmakers sell the rental companies tons of cars at a low cost.

Some rental companies have other than American cars (Hertz will rent you a Jaguar, Saab etc), but the majority rent American. I remember trying to persuade my in-laws to get the Maxima at one rental place here (maybe Dollar?), but they went with the Buick... I think it'll be highly unlikely that you could rent a TL. Then again, you can rent Lexus etc here in Vegas!

the major reason why we don't many jap and euros is cost. people always want the nicer jap/euros but no one is willing to pay for it. Why spend more money when you are only making back the same amount.

A while back, I rented at avis or hertz a 2003 Maxima. (Not hard to get) I have not seen the 2004 but I suspect it may be possible.

Check your facts. Nissan recently sold a bunch of Infiniti G35s to one of the car rental companies. Forgot which one though. I was more concerned about it back when I was looking at the G35 as a possible option.

Acura is an American car. In Ft Lauderdale, you can rent almost any car if you're willing to pay the price...heck I've even seen Rolls and Bently's for rent...Ferrari too!! It's just a matter of paying the price...and most people don't want to pay top dollar for rental's. Ft Myers doesn't have the market for high end cars....try Ft. Lauderdale....you can get almost anything there.

Well if you find a rental TL. I would not judge it on its quality. After all "No curb to high no ditch to deep, This rental car we will not keep.....

Not true.

HERTZ rents Honda (Accord), Toyota (Camry/Corolla/Highlander), Infiniti (G35/FX35), and Nissan (Altima). I get the G35 every time I rent from them in Ft. Lauderdale, FL.

They used to rent Nissan (Maxima) but now that's exclusively Enterprise (in my experience).

There's an outside chance that either will get the TL or TSX.

Yeah apparently i came across bad information. What i meant to say was that insurance companies (mostly) have to pay the premium or market price to get the japanese cars as opposed to the american cars.

As Lindros2 notes above. This is bunk.

I rented a G35 from Hertz for a trip up through the mountains in CO last week. They also had plenty of Altimas on hand. I have also gotten a Camry and Corolla from Hertz in the past.

The major companies all have descriptions of their rental fleets on their homepages. To my knowledge none of the biggies rent Acuras.

i have not come across too many rental companies like hertz or avis that rent foreign cars. from what i remember they have large contracts with the domestics that supply them with cars. they get cars at a greatly reduced rate. just like police cars and taxi cabs(although there is a honda odyssey cab in nyc). companies that rent exotics like ferraris and stuff are privately held and have no contracts with car manufacturers. i dunno which avis or hertz has foreign cars because when you go to their website to book a car i do not see any jap cars. (jaguars by the way are a product of ford).

Some rental companies do rent japanese cars. Toyota for example has been selling to fleets for a while. Honda does not sell new vehicles to fleets (in the USA) but some minor rental companies will buy cars individually an will rent essentially any vehicle you could ever want.
