04 TL performance chips

Any suggestions on performance chips for the o4 TL are they worth the money? Do they harm the car. I seen one on Ebay for like $22.00 zero gravity module. AVG 13-22.5 hp. I can't really see putting a $22 chip in a TL. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

um...to even consider such a worthless ebay item that is obviously not going to work is no good...we need to wait for some other crappy company like Jet...I really want HonData for our car, but they told me that they are not considering doing a TL at this time.

Stay away from cheap e-bay items. Waste of money.

You are right...I called them and asked about the TL...they told me that they would consider doing a TSX before they would ever do a TL, and that they haven't even done any serious work on a TSX yet. I think that they will begin to notice that there are more people tuning TLs then the 2nd gen car, so maybe we will ge tlucky eventually.

i have to disagree i think the market for TL tuners is very small compared to cars like the RSX. the type of person buying a TL is out of the rice boy state and there is more money to make off cars like the RSX. even the TSX is a go between from the RSX to the TL. mabe that is why they named it the TSX. from experience chips for N/A cars fo not provide much significant gains.

If they've done the Accord, I can't imagine that the TL would be that much different. I don't think the Accord part would be identical, as the TL has higher compression and I'm sure different fuel mappings/timing. Nevertheless, if they've cracked the Accord CPU, then the TL one would be same program with different parameters. At least this was true in the Nissan world when Technosquare cracked the 350z code, and then proceeded to offer drop-in replacements for every VQ up and down the Nissan/Infiniti line.

The TL's engine is in such a high state of tune from the factory that I find it hard to believe that a "chip" will have any appreciable benefits. And yes, I do have experience with some "chips" in the past.

Just my .02

I think that's true for the 6spd, but a gut feeling tells me they're protecting the 5spd auto tranny a lot and thus it's detuned a bit. A couple of people who've had the recall done have stated that after the recall the car feels faster, and if I'm not mistaken part of the recall is a ECU flash..

While I agree a chip on an OBD II engine in a relatively high state of tune is not going to see massive increases, it will likely safely increase the redline and provide a modest increase in power, probably less than 10 hp.

Not that I really care about either right now, and I sure would not want to have warranty issues as a result of installing a chip . . .

Well, HonData has already done the TSX. It netted about 30 hp if I remember correctly. BIG difference in that car.
