Yes they are. Go with 6000k. Has a nice blue light to it. Anything above and you will lose light output.

Stock is 4300k btw

I dont remember by heart but if I recall they're d2s 60404. Search for "3g bulb sizes" and you'll find a complete list of all interior and exterior bulb sizes for our cars. Make sure to find the correct information since canadian and american models have some differences. 04-06 and 07-08 too.

And yeah they're hid's

I think anything above 4300k is already losing output, 6K is just not horrible yet...

I recently picked up a pair of Osram CBI bulbs and they're awesome. Shines brighter than the stock 4300k and tops out at about 5500k after the break-in period. A bit pricey, but well worth the money. They're very white with no blue in it.

Here to 2nd this. Get the Morimoto XB35's from one of our site vendors (TRS), and use one of their promo codes. You'll get a great deal on some great bulbs. They're are night and day compared to the oems. the 5500k are closer to 5000k, so you'll get a nice ice white light with minimal loss to light output. Infact, in a test done by TRS, the XB35's outperformed the stock Phillips D2S 4300k bulbs. I made a thread when I changed my bulbs with a bit more info if you wanted to check it out

I've seen TL's with 6000k and I thought the headlights were some kind of DEPO aftermarket. Looks too rice.
Stick with 4300k and the projectors will still give the car a blue look but light will be bright white.

If any of you want a upgrade than go for osram cool blue intense or morimoto xb35.

I previously had morimoto 3five (not the XB version) in 5000K with authentic zkw lens (not replicas) and the color output was very ice white no blue.

I recently upgraded to osram CBI and they are noticeably brighter. I'm still breaking them in.

I gifted my dad Morimoto XB35 in 5500K for his 2008 Infiniti (had factory bulbs) and he says they are very bright and white.

Finally, someone who realizes form over function makes sense. Plus, anything above 5000k imho is too blue, and blue light on wet roads is not a good combo.

OP, although you may want the bluest look possible, going past 4500-5000k diminishes the whole point of having the great headlights that the TL uses. You LOSE light output (i.e. light that is actually useful to illuminate the road and obstacles at night- the bluer the light, the worse it is), making it LESS safe for you as YOU drive at night, and it makes things LESS safe for oncoming traffic because the color of the lights are a distraction to them as well. Trading safety for aesthetics is never a good idea, especially when it messes with the safety of other people on the road.

That said, do what you wish. We have great vendors here that will give you great deals on the bulbs you're looking for. Just remember- when you buy bulbs for the TL, you need to buy and replace them in pairs, at the same time. Otherwise your car will look ridiculous and one headlight will be outputting a different color than the other. Spending the extra money for good quality bulbs pays off in longevity, consistency and safety. Don't get suckered into buying the color you're looking for just based on price. The TL is not a cheap car to maintain so cutting corners is not worth it to really enjoy the car.

How do the Morimoto xb35 5500k compare to the oem hid's? I know the light is supposed to be a bit whiter, but is there a noticeable increase in brightness/light output?

I use and sell the xb series and love them. My other car has the CBI's and its defiantly a better bulb, but for the price of the xb, its more cost effective.

Thanks for the reply. That's why I'm looking at the xb's, the cost is what really attracts me. I would just like to know how much of an improvement over OEM they are (to see if they're worth getting, or if I should just wait and save up for the cbi's)?

Just save up and get the rolls royce of hid bulbs (osram cbi).

I had morimoto 3five (not XB35) and after several months of use I would always question myself "I wonder how CBI bulbs would look" because they are known to be the best bulb on the market. instead I settled for the cheap affordable ones.

Just last month I purchased CBI bulbs to replace my morimoto and it was well worth it. If I could do it all over again I would have went with CBI in the first place.

It's like settling for a base model TL and than months later you wished you had a Type-S instead. It's always going to be in the back of your mind

Why are you looking for an IMPROVEMENT with a budget bulb?????????????????????????????????????????????? ?????????????????????????????????????????/

a 50 dollar bulb will not compare to your OEM 100 dollar bulb.

that's just plain common sense.
and like you said; the price is what attracts you.

so, NO! you shouldnt compare the OEM bulb to the morimotos.

what you should do is look at the price and see how much VALUE the mori's will have over the OEM or any other bulb that cost 3x as much.......

the mori's will be a great bulb.
will last a long time, has great color, etc.
a GREAT FUCKING VALUE BULB!!!!!

But please for the LOVE of GOD, dont compare them too something that cost 3x as much...
because it will be INCOMPARABLE!!!
the expensive bulbs will outshine (literally and figuratively) the mori's every time.
