Post 04 TL with Chrome wheels

I had the A-SPEC 18 Wheels on for about a month, but i realized that they were a killer in the snow and rain, so instead of changing my tires, i bought a third set of chrome wheels ( i didn't want to risk getting my A-SPEC rims scratched while changing tires).
I'm not a chrome lover, and actually i think it looks kind of ......WRONG, but you guys are the judge.

Here is a link to the pictures:

I personally did not like it. I've seen a chrom set on a TL which was really hot. I did try to find the guy on this forum but to no avail.

IMO, those have to be some of the ugliest looking rims i've seen in a long time. but i guess beauty is in the eye of the beholder

I never said that i liked it, because i don't.
It's just that i had a limited list of rims, since i have the manual tranny, because the Brembo's are sticking out and not anything would fit in there.
In addition to thr snow that just hit us today, and actually the moment i'm writting this, its snowing outside, so i had to find something within two days with all season tires.
I believe that they are too much for this car

Qatar, I agee with you. The wheels are wrong.

But the black looks the best with the a-spec kit by a wide margin.

Nope! I had seen one on 880 north in the Bay here. I did call for the guy on this forum but seems he is not on this forum.

Re: 04 TL with Chrome wheels

They looks a little funky, they cannot set off your TL's style, TL requires some bold rims, whatever materials they are. What kind of snow tires do you put on?

BTW, your car is the first TL with the plate number on it... I'll know it's Qatar's vehicle now...

If you are using these rims just for the winter then who cares. They are gonna get dirty anyways.

But please take them off for the spring and summer.

I just cried...not tears of joy...I was just thinking of the poor TL and how funny he must feel wearing those shoes!

Just an opinion, but a strong one against those wheels. If you are happy though, cool!

If I had something on my car that people thought was ugly, I would want them to tell me. I don't like doing this, but those wheels are just flat ugly. Take them off right away, don't let anyone else see them on a TL please.

You know the real problem? There isn't any body crome for the wheels to match to visually. I just don't think they work on the 04.

Yeah those rims are pretty bad, just let them stay dirty and that takes care of that.

Guys, thanks for your opinions, thats all i needed.
I thought it was only me, because i dislike chrome and never had them on any of my rides.
I'm only using them for the winter and thinking of putting them on my 03 TL-S, it might look better.
And rets, my plates will be change soon, it'll say (QATAR), so you'll sure know me, and i have Continentals on.
If it wasn't for the snow and my fear of damaging my baby in a accident, i would have never took them off.
I've noticed 3 things with the tires:
1- Handelling changed a lot, and i can't feel the steering wheel
2- Road noise is almost gone (tires noise)
3- I can drive in the rain and snow without serious worries.
I just hope to see summer soon.

Thanks...I just decided no chrome on my TL. I was debating on chrome or silver and now have my answer.

Don't get me wrong, I love the car but damn those rims don't fit it at all. If they are just for winter then who cares!

Criss,
i was thinking of chroming my stock rims, but i was told by a friend that it damages the structure integrity.
And the cost of chroming a set is almost similar to the cost of purchasing one.
But good that i could help.

I don't think the problem is the chrome, it's the wheel design. Those wheels are ugly, chrome or not. For comparison, check out my gallery, I got the chomed stock rims and think it looks great. I actually decided to get them because I had seen them in the dealer first.

Dont put them on the TLS either the stock 5 spokes on the TLS look so much better than those.
