'04-'06 Fog Light

I have done my research, and I know how to replace em, and I know the bulb number. My questions comes down to opinion... Generally I say do whatever you like. But In this particular case, I can not decide which I like.

I am currently running the stock 04-06 headlight. I have Morimoto D2S in 6k. Currently running the factory "fog light" and yes they are original to 2005! I still have the amber in the in the assemblys but I do plan on taking them out shortly seeing as I have ordered and received my switchbacks.

My question to the members would be:
What is your set up
For the 9006 bulbs would you run an HID/LED?
A Halogen such as an sylvania ZXE?
Which temperature would you run given you had 6k's in the projectors like I do now.
I'm torn between a 6k HID, a 4300k Halogen (Sylvania ZXe), a 3k HID, or just realizing there's nothing actually wrong with what I have other than its stock and just stop spending money on lights.

Glad you asked!

I've spent too much money on lighting, switching out for better ones.

For your 9006, I would run LEDs.
Any halogen bulb (including the Sylvania ZXE) won't match the colour you get from LEDs.

It's amazing how bright LEDs are these days, you won't have to worry about the LED being dimmer than the ZXE.

Not a fan of the white switchback, white low beam, then yellow 9006 look.

Me personally I ran 9012 bulbs. You have to slightly modify them, but they put out 1850lu. My sister drove my car home one night with just my DRL/fogs on, and she said they were brighter and better than her Optima's projector halogens.

You could even modify a 9011 bulb. They put out like 2500lu.

Really? Thats pretty interesting. I may look into that too. When you ran them, what type of bulb did you run. HID/Halogen/LED etc

They are Halogen infrared refective. They're slightly whiter than standard halogen.

I'm more of function over form type of guy. Take a look at his fog cutoff vs the picture of my cutoff. HID/LED aren't meant to go in a halogen reflector.

Post #196, I posted a comparison of the led fogs on frosty's alone vs my car with 9006 alone. My 9012 had just burnt out, but the cutoff is identical.

Yeah, I tried 9005 modded to fit but since the bulb is slightly shorter the cutoff isn't as nice. The hir2/9012 bulb though had the same cutoff as the 9006 just with 1800+ lumens. My best friend who had an e46 M3 said he wished his M3's bi-xenon cutoff was as good as my foglamps.

Off topic I see you are from Lexington, SC. How far is that from Myrtle Beach area?

Gotcha. I havent gotten around to read in that other thread yet. Been a little busy. But it sounds like that what you have is the way to go.

And its about 2 and half give or take. Depending on route and traffic. Usually closer to 3 I will say. I was actually out that way a few weeks ago for Nopi

I'm guessing nowhere near as good as a 9006 or 9012. I put a modded 9005 in mine, and the bulb is slighlty shorter. Which made the cutoff worse than I would have thought.

HID just don't belong on rebased bulbs. Especially when they're going in halogen reflector housings not projectors.

Well currently my car is up on high stands waiting for a fender, bumper, headlight and other misc parts.

Before that I had 9005 in just while I waited to get new 9012 bulbs.
