03 tls vs. ricers dream of an altima.

I was patiently waiting at a red light when this asshat pulls up beside me in the right-turn-only lane. He's inching forward. I knew he was going to cut me off as soon as the light went green. I put it in SS and turned TC off. He keeps inching and then takes off just before it goes green. At that time he was already a 1/4 through the intersection. I stomped the pedal and screeched clear through the intersection up until his car and passed him like he was standing still.

I have the almost finished stock tires on my car still ( run winters 1/2 the year so in theory they last twice as long- new tires ordered) I want to prevent my car from spinning and losing traction. I ordered Toyo Proxes 4 tires, I'm hoping they'll make me stick a litter better. Am i just launching wrong, or should my tires keep the car planted?

nice car, wish I'd a a-spec! love the kit, the jdm spoiler, and the blackened headlight housing

it's normal if your tires screech when you go WOT from a standing still. Afterall, you have 260hp going to your front wheels. I was about to buy Toyo Proxes 4 too, but I settled with Yokohama Avid V4S as they last longer and according to reviews, are as grippy as the Toyo's. The tires definitely make a difference when you launch your car hard.

I think a better way to launch would be to hold your brakes and push the gas pedal very lighly till about 2-3k rpm, when light turns green, step on the gas pedal while at the same time letting go of the brake pedal.

that method worked wonders for me

Although I doubt thats good for you tranny, you should never go from a stand still to WOT...Try to balance it out better and you should spin less.

agreed; brake revs are (from what i've heard) horrible for the tranny, let alone the engine. we really can't get off the line without any detrimental effects...best thing to do is balance it out well; use your left foot for the brakes, and gradually, but quickly STOMP that PEDAL TO THE FLOOR!

I got a question....Besides cosmetic differences, what else is different between the A-Spec and the regular Type-S?
