03 tl vs 3rd gen Eclipse

I was heading over to pick up gf up for a party. On the way there, a 3rd gen eclipse with a body kit, tinted windows, and exhaust pulled up right next to me on a stop light. It was on an intersection of a freeway. I turned my head over to see where the fart can exhaust sound was coming from and there it was. I couldn't see the face of the driver but I could see that he was looking at my way. I thought I might as well have some fun with this since I was in a hurry anyway.

The light turned green and I stepped on it, the tires spun for a little. I can hear his car struggling to keep up. I think it was a 4 cylinder but it had dual exhaust, probably a y-pipe mod? Anyway, I had him the entire time until we caught up to some traffic. He pulled up next to me, while at normal speed 70mph or so, then tried to go at it again. I stepped on it a little and I could hear his car struggling to downshift. I wasn't even flooring my car and yet I was ahead of him the entire time. Either it was an automatic or he just sucks at driving a manual. His car was making all sort of noises, especially with those super loud fart-can exhaust. I guess he thought his body kit was gonna boost his car 100hp more or something.

There slow, of course you would win. I believe even a v6 is slow, idk how much HP a 3rd gen v6 has.

i wonder how we would do against a GST or a GSX from a dig. i know we would definitely get them from a roll of course.

I use to have a 95 GST, and now I have a 99 GSX. Both was heavenly modded. Stock wise the GST has problems launching like the 6MT TL, but fast on top end. The GSX of course is alot better on launch, but sucks on top end because of the extra weight of the AWD system. Modded, they both are very fast. GST would require a LSD though, because of the great increase of power down low.

That being said, we would kill both cars if they were fully stock from a dig. If they are modded and tuned properly, their performance would match a stock EVO.

Yeah, my friend used to have a GSX, he said that every time he steps on the gas a little too hard, the wheels will spin very easily. I love the older gen Eclipses though, just look so nice.

I just checked and found out the stock v6's are only 205hp with 205lbs of torque, I guess I over estimated them. That bodykit and fart-can exhaust were just too much to ignore, thought that it would be modded somehow...

IMO, the 3rd eclipses (95-99) are the best looking and best potential as far as modding. My car is so fun to drive. The only thing is you can mess those cars up, if you have alot of modds and don't know what you are doing. Trust me. I know from experience.

Yeah, they do break down easily. That's the reason why my friend got rid of it and bought a M3 instead...But no doubt do they look good though. Just plain stock looks sick, non of those f-ugly body kits like the fast n the furious.
