My money is on the IS provided, a) it's a 5MT and b) your friend can drive. Other than that, 3.2TL > IS300.

even a 5MT IS300 will have a very hard time beating a TL-P. I have walked countless IS300's, one with I/E and lightweight rims, I believe it was a 5MT and he didn't come close. IS300 is nothing to be scared of unless they are FI, unless you are stock and a 5MT has some bolt-on's.

Edit: and FWIW the IS300, in it's final days of being on the lots "brand new", is showing its age terribly. It has been for years. IMO, a huge embarrassment to Lexus - especially that interior.

My friend raced an FX35 in his '01 IS300 AT while I was in the car, and he got slaughtered. By the time second gear came around it was all over. I'm definitely guessing that you'll beat him.

lexus is luxury as acura is more sporty. except new IS350, damn Lexus finally got the picture! still an nsx will smoke a IS350 anyday so acura still has the advantage in sport and it will always be that way!

Isn't it a bit biased, and unfair, to compare a $35k compact luxury/sport sedan to a $90k exotic supercar that is on its way out? No one will deny the NSX's brilliant engineering, but that's still not a fair comparison. However, the Lexus IS350 would probably give an NSX a great run as it is more powerful.
Toyota used to be the horsepower champs from Asia, and it appears they want that title back. The new Camry V6 is rumored to have a 260hp V6, and they're supposedly developing both a V12 and a diesel engine for the next Lexus LS.
Acura builds great cars, but they are by no means superior to Lexus. If anything, it's the other way around.

I just really hate the fact that the new Avalon can smoke many cars( mine included), and look pretty good doing in also (compared to the last gen. Avalons)
