So, I had a bottle of dishwasher detergent in my car, and to make a long story short, the detergent leaked unto my carpet! (It completely missed the rubber mats, and got onto the part b/w the rubber mats on the rear....)

Anyways, does anyone know if there's a way to clean it? I have ebony interior, and now the carpet is stained this uuugly ass doo doo brown color.

I'll take pics and post them as soon as I can. I'm doubting that it can be fixed because dishwater detergent has a bleach-like quality to it. If anyone can help, i'd greatly appreciate it.

Use one of those vaccums with the steam cleaner attatchment that shoots out hot water and then brushes and sucks it back up. If you don't have one, find a friend that does. Im going to buy one anyway because you don't think your carpet is dirty until you use one. You would be suprised what that thing gets out that you didnt even know was there. lol.

if it's just the stain, you can get the carpet re-dyed

the orange color is not a sign that it has stained it, but it has bleached it. This happened in my old car, but with some laundry detergent. But you never know, it could just be the dried up mess from the detergent that can be easily cleaned with a steam/carpet cleaner.

A new carpet is like $220. Annoying to have to rip out, but not horribly expensive if you can do it yourself.

Too bad it wasnt dishwashing liquid. Detergent is some serious stuff. Steam cleaner might work too?

If it is bleached, the carpet comes in 2 pieces (front and rear) and each piece is about $100.

hmmm.. we got a steam cleaner to clean our house before we move out.. this thread has inspired me to use the hose attachment and do my carpets

I believe those are the big ones for rooms. I dont think they have the hand held attatchment.
