Yeah, State Farm has me covered for this. $500 deductible and I get an OEM wheelset with a new set of Michelin Pilot Sport A/S tires plus repair to any damages. There's the silver lining right there. Still would rather this not have happened. Just wanted to preach to anyone as dumb as I who still doesn't have wheel locks!

There is a set of type s wheels for sale on there now from Chicago, but they have been up there for atleast a week now so probably not yours.

even with 2 or 3 guys, they would be limited to the "factory jack" and how slow it raises the car up. unless they had two? but then why leave one?

you can do the DIY shock sensor alarm install, and if the car came down onto the cinderblock with force, it would sound the alarm

not saying i would, but this is how I would do it.

minimum of 2 guys. 3 would be better
bring my aluminum racing jack.
bring tire iron.
bring a few sockets in case of wheel locks.

if wheel locks, hammer on sockets, lefty loosey.
tire iron and lefty loosey all lugs.
jack car up real quick with aluminum jack.
not my car, so bricks will have to do. (bricks are heavy, if they parked down the street, they would have to carry the bricks)
finish off wheels
release jack and goo.

But the moral fiber in society is such rubbish now that people might not even have the decency to call the police if they saw this happening because it doesn't affect them. Anyway, I wasn't trying to start a pity party. I'm more concerned about this happening to other members and being able to prevent this kind of shit from happening again. I want to move the conversation to discuss preventative measures. This happened right in front of my house. Nobody heard a thing. It freaks me out to think that if all I do is get wheel locks, this will probably happen again, especially after Justin's comments.

I will definitely be doing this when I get back from Malaysia. Until then, my car will be sitting in my garage. Anyone else have any thoughts about preventative measures? Are there different varieties of wheel lock that you can't remove by hammering on a 12 point socket?

That's some BS there. Sorry to hear about you guys getting you all wheels stolen.

 

Locked, alarmed garage is best.

But if no garage, or when parking away from your garage, wheel locks and an alarm with tilt and shock sensors.

It's 20:20 hindsight now, but all that could be installed for less than the $500 deductible that you are about to pay. Yes, wheel locks can be defeated, but the hammering required to defeat the wheel locks should set off a properly calibrated shock sensor/s before they can even get that lug nut off. And the tilt sensor is the back-up to the shock sensor.

I have wheel locks and a Clifford alarm with both sensors and wouldn't be without them. Sorry this happened, but kudos to you in your determination to make sure it doesn't happen again

What you can do to prevent this from happening again is to slam your car to the ground that you need to put it on woodblocks to lift the car

A long time ago. Long long time ago. I needed a car to carry tools around.

At 8 AM I went to a dealer picked up used toyota camry station wagon put my tools in it and went to work, came back home around 8-9PM.

Next day morning. I tell my wife "It is blue color car right in front as soon as you get out of the parking."
She calls me "How can you put all your tools in such a small car?"
I "Car is perfect for my business"

I get outside and see a small 2 door (also blue color) car right in front.
By 10 AM I file lost car report. And at 2AM at night get a call back from police that my car was recovered.

Next day I go to pick my car up and read police report. My car was towed at 6AM (abandoned on a freeway 4 hours before I reported its been stolen). Why call me at 2AM? Anyway my car was missing right front fender, two right doors, right front suspension (they did put something instead of it because they drove this car before abandoning it on a freeway). Under dashboard they removed AC radiator and fan.

I ended up buying another camry with blown engine for parts.

Did I tell you that I paid cash and didn't have time during the day to get insurance?

 

I honestly dont think wheel locks wouldve done anything, they just delay the process of taking the wheels off which doesnt make a difference to guys had ample time. Happens all the time here in NJ too man, id like to catch them in the act and get my hands on these fucktards.
