$12 for Paint pen @ Acura Dealer?
I have scratches on my 04 NBP and what to get rid of these scratches. So I call the dealer and ask if they have a solution to fixing this problem. They told me that they sell a pen with with coating to get rid of the scratches and the chipped paint. Has anyone bought this pen and tried it to see if it really works?
BTW she quoted me for $12 for the paint pen.

As a matter of fact I just today bought that same pen for my '04 SSM (and yes it was like $11.85 or something). I haven't used it yet but need to for my front bumper cus of little pebble/rock dings.

Its called a touch up paint pen. One end has a small brush and it flips to reveal a fine point tip. Apply in layers and then sand down flush
See the Off Topic link then Wash And Wax section for complete instructions
Ask any girl how to do nail polish- its the same technique

THIS PEN FOR NBP IS NOT ACCURATE. when I called the dealership to tell them it was more like BLUE than anything, he had a ton of excuses, saying paint is made in different batches.. Someone at a bodyshop told me to use a little bit of regular black from autozone and put it underneath the NBP touch up paint, which should make it look more black.

I have used these pens before. The pen tip is okay, but probably not as good as using a good artist brush. The funny thing is that once you use the pen tip one time and come back to it a couple months later for a second use...no deal. The pen tip dries rock hard and won't push in for future uses. Dumb design.

Hmmm, I think I paid $8.95 at the dealer for Anthracite Metalic. Matches pretty well, but nothing is perfect. I keep messing with the small chips on my '06. It takes longer than 5 minutes to have a semi-decent touch up. Don't try to touch up on a hot car (either from sun or running) as the paint will dry in about 1/2 a heartbeat.
The 'pen' end is subject to clogging. Lacquer thinner helps (soak tip). I think a toothpick works about as well.
Clearcoat on top of the touch up helps at least some colors (Anthracite Metalic included). I used Duplicolor clear coat - $6.95 at Pep Boys. Comes in the EXACT same pen/brush applicator.
Wet sanding with 1500 grit helps blend the spot. You then need a polishing compound to remove the 1500 scratches - I used Turtle Wax polishing compound (not the rubbing compound - they have both). About $3.50, also at Pep Boys.
I bought some spot glazing putty and Duplicolor SSM (NH-623M) today that I'm going to try on patching curb rash on my factory wheels. For the record, I didn't put the rash on, the previous owner did - they didn't seem to appreciate the car at all.

It will never be perfect, but helps a little bit, and minimizes chance of rusting in future from that rock chip.
Use the back end of a match from a matchbook for rock chips. Overfill the spot by reapplying in layers, then as said above wetsand and polish to smooth it out.

I bought the NBP (Honda) paint pen at Walmart for $6 and it worked fine for me. I guess I saved myself $6 from going to the dealer jk, I never inquired about it at the dealership, who would have ever thought I could buy it at the dealer? jk

If you are fortunate to have an Acura car that is also painted a Honda car color go to the parts counter at honda and tell them your 07 or 08 color code for a honda car and the honda guys will give you a complimentary touch up pen. They gave me mine which was carbon bronze TL my acura parts guy told me about because they were charging a nice bit for touch up pens. I got mine a year ago not sure if they still do it but worth a try anyway.
