Gentlemen,

This is my 2015 RLX roof. The trunk and the top of the quarter panels are starting to show cracks and progressively getting to this state.

it’s paint failure isn’t it?

I wash every other week and clay that gunk out of there after pressure wash, foam soak, and maguire’s car wash shampoo. Now you look at it and think The car was never washed right?

After a good wash, it looks like the sunset but don’t inspect the roof closely!

 

How does the paint look for the rest of the RLX? Was the RLX re-painted at anytime? Seems like your options are to repaint or vinyl wrap. It might look pretty good vinyl wrap with black on the roof. Check out post #33 of below thread link with black vinyl wrapped roof for white RLX by @Limelight

That is definitely not normal! My paint on the roof was perfect but I just wanted the black look. The problem you might find with wrapping is you will see every little imperfection in the wrap. The paint unfortunately on your roof doesn't look smooth from the pictures.

I can't comment on the longevity of the black gloss wrap as I sold that white 2014 P-AWS for a white 2015 Sport Hybrid. I do miss the light interior on the 2014 though - so nice.

Good luck with your roof - you're probably looking at a $500 - $600 paint repair at a body shop or $100 to get it wrapped but that won't solve your problem, just mask it....

 

See TSB 019-029 it appears to be a known issue with the pearl white paint. The TSB specifically referenced the '14-'16 MDX with Diamond White Pearl, but I have a '18 RLX with Platinum White Pearl and, although not nearly as bad as yours APPEARS to be, I am seeing a bunch of very small imperfections, blemishes and paint chips all the time now.
