I took my 18 RLX hybrid in for an 1 year max oil change this week and to double check an "U0104-00, cruise control may not operate properly with brake system" message. The tech determined it was a bad OEM battery and replaced with the same under warranty. I might have to keep an eye on this issue to make sure that was the cause of the error message or the bad battery was a symptom of something else wrong.

 

So after 5 years, I finally had to get a new battery.

I went to the mall and after about 20 minutes came back out to a car that would not start - just flickering lights in front of me. Got a jump & since it was Sunday the dealership was closed so I went to a nearby Advanced Auto. They said the battery & alternator was fine so something was draining it.

Went to the dealer the next day & they confirmed the battery was fine but said that since it was 5 years old, it might be wise to go ahead & change it. I did so at the cost of ~$240.

After all the initial quirkiness, the Acura battery was pretty solid.

 

So I bought my pre-owned 2018 SH-AWD in 2021 right off of a lease. Since that time I’ve had to change the battery twice. And both times no warning, just come out to a car that won’t start. My 2nd time was this week - intended to go to work, no start up. Ended up being late for work, thank goodness I have a 2nd car.

I might just start keeping a spare battery around. This seems like such a weird thing to happen.
