electrical problems

I have an '04 TSX with 43XXX. This past Sat the car would not start with no indication htere was a problem previously. Was able to jump the battery but car would not keep running. Acura care was a PITA to deal with - they would not listen to my request.
1) Initial call I requested a flatbed truck (since I have a body kit) if battery jump would not be able to get me to the dealer (approx 10 miles away). I was told they send out nothing but flatbed trucks. 1 hr later a guy in a Blazer arrives with a battery booster. Once again car started but would not continue to run. This is my second battery - first replaced @ 5000 miles.

2) Called Acura Care again to have them send a flatbed (are you listening to my request). 1.5 hrs later a tow truck appears - the driver said a flatbed was not requested. He left to go get a flatbed (25 mins. away). In the meantime I called AAA for a flatbed. It arrived at the same time as the returning flatbed. I used AAA.

Still waiting from dealer on cause of problem. Since car would not stay running I am not sure it is a battery problem since alternator would charge battery as it is running. I was told if it is a battery I would get pro-rated (I mentioned this was the second battery) - no charge if less than 2 yrs old, which 2nd battery is.

If you ever have to call Acura care be sure and have them repeat any request & your location back to you. They are located in AZ & dispatch from trucks from there. Not a good experience at all so far.

probably alternator....it wont keep the car charged

also acura care is quite stupid sadly to say. i bought a certified acura before this car. which extend the warranty by another 1year and 12K. when i had trouble and called they kept wanting the extended warranty contract number. i was like. i got this car certified, there are not freaking extended warranty contract number. they said then they can not send anyone out.. are they stupid or what..well. just acuse they are marked acura care does not mean they are quality service. once again like my othe rposting. next car will be lexus for me.

It was the battery. 26 months old. Dealer did not offer anything but Honda batteries. It was prorated at 75% so $24 for battery & $26 for labor.

Damn, should have told them to wipe their ass with that battery and got yourself an Optima. Oh well, hopefully this one lasts for you

Isn't the original battery that the TSX comes with made by Panasonic? My 2005 TSX only has 4900 miles and I am thinking of replacing this thing within a year before any problems arise.

Yes, it is. My first one wa replaced within 2 months after purchase of car. 40000 miles later replaced again. If it was not prorated I would have chosen my own battery.

Did they also check out the charging circuit during idle and at higher rpm to verify alternator output?

Yeah, if they didn't check the alternator, you might want them too - dead batteries could just be masking the problem. Really shouldn't be on your third battery in two years.

Yes, I was told all charging systems were checked and all checked OK. The battery they put in was a 100 month battery with 750 CCA.

You may want to cruise into your loca "autozone" or if you have any larger autoparts stores nearby, they usually offer a free electrical system test. Sometimes the dealer "say" they do things. But they dont. For example, i have this inherent vibration problem that keeps coming back. I ask them to check to see if a wheel is "out of round". They keep teling me "if the wheel wasn't perfectly round, the balancing machine will pick it up!"
My thoughts are no it wont. A balancing machine makes the weight even on the left and right. If a wheel is out of round, it will simply tell the technician to put a weight on to coutnerbalance it. But simply counterbalancing a wheel that isn't perfectly round doesn't fix vibrations. They refuse to check it. All they have to do is look at it while it's spinning on the machine and they refuse to tell me that it's perfectly round. Hence,.... i still have my little issue.

Sorry about your problem. Hope everything goes well. It may just be a bad ground. Check to see if your grounding connection to the body of the car is solid.

That is a huge battery power upgrade! Is it the same physical size as the original?
