18 RLX Hybrid Chrome Delete

Wasn't too crazy about all the chrome on the wife's Brilliant Red Metallic w/ Ebony 18 RLX Sport Hybrid. Local installer did gloss black vinyl wrap on the side windows and gloss black plastic dip the rest of the chrome and hybrid badge. I also painted the calipers black and added Petrol P4B 19X8 gloss black rims from Discount Tires for the OEM tires. Need to de-badge the "RLX" and I might black out the "awd" on the "SH-awd" badge and add the OEM rear spoiler. I did the same Chrome black out on my 19 MDX Adv Sport Hybrid.

I sort of like most of the original chrome look, but you did a fabulous job. I think the fact that your car is red makes the difference. Not sure how the black out would work on lets say a black or modern steel car. Beauty is in the eye . . . . . . .!

The blacked out looked seemed to make the red look a little deeper in color in the southwestern sun compared to with the chrome. It did the same thing for my Fathom Blue MDX with the blacked out chrome. I like the lean towards sporty compared to luxury with all the chrome.

Nice! Gotta love that red!

What is in your fleet now? You've been changing it up as of late?

The 06 TSX had the A-Spec body kit and suspension (plus Progress RSB). I was ready to get him a CPO 19 Acura TLX 2.4L A-Spec in Apex Blue with 9,000 miles and he didn't like it because he felt it was too much car. Suggested an +16 ILX tech with Acurwatch and A-Spec with 20,000 miles and he didn't like the info-tainment set-up (same as the RLX or 14-17 MDX). Told him he needs to figure out what replacement car he wanted before his rental runs out. He wanted the CPO Honda Civic LX with 36,000 miles and I said OK. He tells me he likes the Civic; but, it is an econo-box type of car and it has nothing in common with his previous 06 TSX (it does get about 5-8 better mpgs and takes regular)

He is a college Sr. and planning to go to grad school for his MBA. I'm paying for everything and told him he just has to make the payments with his summer internships and take over any payments after +4 years once he graduates (co-signed for him to help his credit). The money I've saved with Civic, I decided to go for the RLX sport hybrid because it was the color combo I really liked is pretty much like looking for an unicorn on a blue moon during a leap year. Got really lucky to find the RLX I got at that price and mileage.

Cool story. Glad to see your son stayed in the Honda family!

The RLX is such a nice car! Between it and the MDX, you've climbed to the top of the Acura food chain!

I must say, I've driven a 2018 Odyssey and that J35Y is amazing!

This is what a PMC RLX might look like :-)

I still might do the gloss black vinyl wrap of the roof to see how it might look down the road. I would really love to find the same black rear spoiler like the TLX A-Spec/PMC; but, the Mugen Legend version is all I could find for now and it is $2700 on Amazon:
Amazon Amazon

I have the OEM RLX rear spoiler on order and waiting on my racing pedals from Ultimate Pedals.

A 88 year old lady backed into our RLX in a parking lot. Not that much damage and wouldn't be worth involving insurance since my deductible is $500. Replacing the slightly bent blacked out chrome trim piece and buffing out the scuffed up paint (not pictured) might get me 99% back to normal.

I got the OEM color match spoiler added to the RLX along with racing pedals from Ultimate Pedals: https://www.ultimatepedals.com/

I wish the RLX had brighter footwell lights like my MDX. Dark tinted windows, ebony interior, and very dim welcome lights makes the RLX look like a cave at night. The racing pedals help brighten up the interior a little bit and the brushed aluminum pedals match pretty close to the brushed metal trim already in the RLX interior.

I got the paint buffed out, re-painted the plastic dip chrome piece, de-badged the rear, and blacked out the Acura Emblem and first picture with rear deck lip spoiler.

I usually am a big fan of spoilers. The one on the RLX will have to grow on me. I know it is probably just the angle of the picture, but It looks huge in comparison to the size of the trunk.

The spoiler actually looked blend in with rest of the car like part of the trunk lid. I like the look. Had it on both of my RLXs.

to OP. more pictures please

I'm interested in changing the chrome into a darker chrome color. But i'm not sure how that's gonna look on a black car... anyone got any idea or examples?

Questions for those who have wrapped the chrome. Are the chrome parts removed from the vehicle to wrap, or is the wrap applied with the parts in place?

The chrome window trim and side rocker trim was wrapped in place with gloss black vinyl wrap. The front, rear, and door handles chrome was sprayed in place with gloss black plastic dip. So far, everything has been holding up without any issues since application. Planning to take to get color corrected, front end PPF redone, PPF applied along the side (getting rock chips on doors), and ceramic coated on rims, exterior glass, and interior.
