Custom Hyper Black Wheels

Looking to paint a set of new wheels hyper black. Have many AZ'rs done this? Not aware there is a hyper black powder.

There are several black chromes (theoretically the same), and a shadow chrome that looked nice in sample pics. Also from what I can put together, wheel manufacturers don't powder coat but rather liquid paint. Hyper blacks are most likely multi-stage with top coat required.

Most powder shops in town have never done or heard of hyper black. And hyper looks generally tricky to pull off with its tricky color shifting, and glowy edges.

Black finishes
Check out the shadow chrome. The wheels in the photos look pretty good, no? I didn't like what I saw in the black chrome samples. Too dark+wet+gloss look.

Should I go with shadow chrome and call it a day? It will be at least predictable as opposed to an attempt at custom wet pain. Any advice?

I have Black Chrome wheels, so similar to Shadow Chrome I'd assume. I didn't personally have them done, I bought them second hand, but they were done originally by a company called Detroit Wheel. They're on eBay but you can contact them directly. They use a process called PVD which is essentially a powder coat with a metallic film sandwiched in between the layers of powder so it doesn't flake or pit like chrome and is lightweight.

As far as Hyper Black goes, judging by the samples on the website you linked, it's really one of those deals that you don't know exactly how it's going to look until you see it in person. Same kind of goes with the Black Chrome, or Shadow Chrome, however you want to call it. It flips and flops between straight up chrome, to a gray chrome to almost black in certain lighting. I personally love the look but they're not for everyone. Hope that helps a little at least.
