Usb port and usb ipod (source on radio)

Will charge iPhone, but cannot play music through either one of those source modes. Any ideas?

I have the same issue. 2018 RLX SH with Krell audio will stream music from an iPhone 13 through Bluetooth and AUX sources but not through the USB source. Bluetooth cuts out 2-3 secs too often and the AUX does not charge the phone so would like the USB to work. When connected through the USB source, Spotify recognizes it’s playing through a wired connection, the RLX recognizes the source as USB, the phone charges, and both car and phone volumes are up: just no streaming music. The cable is a new USB A to lightning with MFi. Looked through the manual, the iPhone settings and asked Google but found nothing as an obvious solution. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.

I have a 2016 but I think the "infotainment" system is identical...? I've never had a problem with mine, but if the source is any Apple device (iPod, iPad, iPhone) I have to manually set the source to iPod. "USB" does not work (and is not supposed to work) for any Apple device, as far as I know. Also, the cable has to be connected via the USB port that's inside the armrest console, not the one that's outside and in front of it. Also, my RLX never "recognizes a source as USB"--all sources are set manually. The mention of a 2018 RLX recognizing a source makes me think that the system may indeed have been updated for the newer cars.

Bluetooth cutting out for even one second has also never happened with my RLX.

The only other suggestion I can think of is to experiment with different phones/tablets/cables. Some cables are just bad, and individual phones can be finicky.

No brilliant ideas here, but I wanted to reply because it's all worked so well for me and it would drive me crazy if I were experiencing these issues. Good luck!

I should probably add that my phone is an Android, so I normally connect it to the USB data port only for charging. I have connected and used iPods, iPads and iPhones via the USB data port, however, using the "iPod" source. When this method is used, album art appears on the screen.

Greatly appreciate the response asdecorazones. I tried using the iPod source while the iPhone was connected to the usb port in the console but it also will not stream music from the Spotify app on my iPhone 13. Just to clarify, I am also selecting sources manually. What I was trying to say is the car recognizes that I have manually selected the usb source. I will try your suggestions about different devices and cables. I’m especially interested in seeing if an Android phone works.
Just curious, were you streaming music from an app on your iPhone when the iPod source worked on your 2016? Was the connection to the phone lightning or mini jack?
Lastly, page 50 of my manual under “AUDIO AND CONNECTIVITY”, “Basic Audio Operation”, “USB Port” states “Connect a USB flash drive or other audio device, such as an iPod or iPhone.” It then describes how to connect to the usb port in the console. So I could have a misunderstanding, but it seems Acura is stating that audio should play from an iPhone through the usb port in the console.
Again, greatly appreciate your input and I will keep trying to find a solution.

Did you by any chance delete the music app from hour iphone? cuz I got annoyed that the minute I connected it would play so I deleted the music app and when I connected my phone the next time was when I experienced what you are doing through.

Yes, I was streaming from multiple apps on iPhones and iPads. The connection was lightning. My current iPad has USB-C, so I'll give that a try soon and see if it works. My Android phone only works over a Bluetooth connection, at least as far as I know.

Just as an update, I upgraded from the iPhone 13 to the 17 Air. Had to change the cables since the phone connection changed from lighting to USB C. Unfortunately, I am getting the exact same results. Bluetooth streams audio from the phone but cuts out for a couple of seconds too often and I cannot stream audio from the phone through the USB source. I tried the iPod source as well but no luck. Additionally, sent an email a week ago to Acura Client Relations about the issue but have not received a response yet.
