Remote Start & Heated Seats
Remote Start & Heated Seats
I swear I must be missing something. My 2020 RLX Sport Hybrid Advance is not turning on the heated seats when remote starting the car. Factory remote start. The heated steering wheel turns on. I assume if the steering wheel comes on, then the system would know its cold enough for the seats to come on too. I must be missing a setting somewhere? I looked in the manual and searched the threads and am coming up short. Sorry if I am missing the answer somewhere in front of me.
Thanks!
Thanks!
I don't think my heated seats came on the last time I used my remote start on my 18 RLX Sport Hybrid with temps in below 20 F degrees (steering wheel was on)? The seat heat (or ventilation if hot outside) do come on with the steering wheel for my 19 MDX Adv Sport Hybrid depending on the outside temp. The RLX manual heated seats do heat up faster and get way hotter compared to my MDX luke warm to warm heated seats.

These are some of the bizarre omission of the RLX vs MDX. Being Acura's flagship sedan, why did they omit auto heating/ventilating front seats!? And manual rear AC is another annoyance.
I believe that the MDX's heated seats come on because they're controlled via the touch screen along with other HVAC controls. In the RLX the seat heaters/fans are controlled by manual buttons below the console controls. I speculate that the controls for that aren't linked to anything related to the remote start. Doesn't make sense since the heated steering wheel comes on (and it's just a button)........
Seems like the team designing the RLX didn't talk to the MDX interior design team? I wish I could put some of the features of my 19 MDX Adv Sport Hybrid and 18 RLX Sport Hybrid together. Like having the same:
- IDS comfort/normal/sport/sport+ settings
- electronic dampers
- updated info-tainment graphics and features
- Carplay
- 2nd row electronic A/C and heater controls
- 2nd row door storage
- Krell in both vehicles
- 3.5L for both vehicles
- trunk close button
- real wood trim
- same exterior courtesy lighting on side view mirrors and door handles

I think the heated seats are pressure controlled as in they only turn on when you sit down (even if the switch were able to be left 'on'). I noticed this in my '06 TL as well. It's to keep the seat from over-heating when there is no one's arse to dissipate the heat.
