Krell Audio system: Sound from Rear speakers

Hi There, I have a 2016 SHAWD Hybrid with the Krell system. I was messing around with the settings the other day (fader, balance etc) and put all sound to the back speakers... I was shocked when I heard it, it sounded muddled and very low.. is that normal? I know most systems are balanced and why the heck would you just want to sound from the rear, I was just shocked when I heard it.. No one has ever complained of the sound in the back seat, and over all it sounds amazing. Just curious that's all, rather not have to bring it to the dealer to hear the famous "could not replicate" or "no problem found" or best yet "operating as intended"..

Thanks

My guess is it's attenuated by design so the front stage is the focus. "Rear fill" is exactly what it sounds like and is shunned upon in the circle of audiophiles so it's either turned off completely or significantly attenuated.

Sorry for the late reply. I had the same issue. The dealership said take off the "DTS Neural Surround" setting. Sounded perfect after I did that!

Turned that DTS neural day 1. Its basically to drown out sound exterior sound, therefore it is more of a hum.... Sounds better without

Whenever I had a passenger in the rear seat, they would tell me it sounded like the rear speakers were blown. When I turned off DTS Neural, the rears sounded normal. I could never hear the irregular noise from the driver's seat unless I set the fader to all rear, which I would not normally do. I guess the sound engineers focused on the front seat passengers when tuning the system. I thought the music sounded a touch crisper with DTS Neural set to on.
