Krell Audio System...Solution?

2014 Adv I’ve seen a lot of people on here experience the cutoff of music randomly and have to stop and restart the car to get the music going again. What’s going on with that? I know that not a lot of people have the RLX but has anyone solved this issue via the dealer or on their own?

Luckily I haven't seen this issue. I mostly listen to SiriusXM.

I had the Krell volume turn off on numerous occasions, usually when I was playing music at high decibels. I would have to shut the car off and restart to reset the volume. Never happened at normal volumes. Wonder if it is a safety feature to save the speakers, and our eardrums, from blowing.

I just purchased a 2017 RLX Advance and this happened to me TWICE! But it only has happened with the bluetooth source. Like you I hope there is a solution to this problem because the Audio package is one of the main reasons I chose this Model! I love it by the way!

Welp

Update: I’m at the dealer right now. Subwoofer is BLOWN. Getting replaced first thing tmmrw morning. I spoke with a few service reps and they told me that the amplifier shutting off is NORMAL and to prevent overheating of the system itself. Makes sense but WTF. Kind of bummed! I’m hoping to get a whole new amplifier unit via my extended warranty but it’s very doubtful.

Unhappy Stuck on Bluetooth

Help please!! I’m new and I like this site but I’ve never had a reason to post because I’m so busy bragging about my 2014 RLX advanced package Batmobile! However….My Krell audio system is stuck on Bluetooth! The screen thanks I am still on a phone call and it’s stuck on hanging up. But I cannot hang up because I’m not on the phone. The voice command will not let me hang up. Does anyone else have this problem? I am at my wits end with this car. A dead battery turned into a sensor problem with charging to testing which turned into $700.

I love this car, but I am frantic that this is going to be a computer problem and this car has 100 computers in it! Does anyone have any idea how to fix this problem or how to just restart the entire audio system? I have no idea what to do before I take it to the dealer which I’m afraid is going to be a mortgage payment, please help me if you can thank you so much😩

Hi, thank you for replying. Yes I have tried that. Same message. “Audio is turned off because phone is in use.” 😢

@Debibaseball try disconnecting the battery, then reconnecting. That will force a reboot. Ordinarily, unpairing the phone would take care of this, but it sounds like it didn't work.

Welcome to AZ BTW!

Thank you!! Took it to my foreign car repair shop (full of Mercedes and Audis....but who am I to talk?) and asked them to unplug the battery to re-boot the audio system. (Good idea!)

Turns out the hands-free module is bad. The computer failed within the board, so it's reset for now. If it fails again, it's done. cost of part: $3,900. Cost to repair: $4,425!

No joke. (I need to rant now. Please forgive me.) I have the RLX Tech package. The tippy-top Krell audio system...with 14 speakers...etc.....
so actually I have the TOP level of the RLX on the TOP car Acura makes (not withstanding the NSX), which was a $63K car brand new....

and if the computer fails again, I have NO BLUETOOTH! No incoming calls, no text messages written out, no Bluetooth for phone music, no Pandora use, NO BLUETOOTH!

Just a bill for $4,425. Of course what am I going to do? Take my chances that it will work, turn on the Bluetooth, open the sunroof and blast the oh-la-la Krell supersonic stereo! Then I'm going to race everyone on the highway, smile, and yell, "This is what 310 horsepower looks like!"

Then probably cry again. Thanks for your help!

Why not try a used part to fix this issue? I just checked EBAY and found this ===>>> 14-17 ACURA RLX BLUETOOTH TELEMATICS COMMUNICATION MODULE 1201 OEM | eBay

finally satisfied with krell audio system

i had the exact same issue with my 2016 rlx sport hybrid with the krell speakers, if i had my speakers very loud like volume 30 , it will definitely turn off which was hella annoying , but ever since i got my car normal battery changed (not the hybrid battery ) it can finnaly reach at max volume with no issue ! !! but i had to reduce the subwoofer to almost max negative and have my EQ in normal settings so i can enjoy the highest quality audio i have heard it’s a perfect experience , this made me love the acura rlx more , but with subwoofer maxed and EQ custome and spotify EQ custom with high volume speakers sounded like it was clipping at extreme levels and im not going to risk my speakers getting blown , so yes i changed my car eq and spotifys to normal but i hope this helps anyone

Wait. Our cars have equalizers? I've searched the PDF of our owner manual and the closest I can find to this is the "Adjusting the sound" description on page 230 that describes Bass-Treble-Fader-Balance-Center-Subwoofer controls. Is this what you mean?
