I recently picked up a 2014 RLX Advance/Krell. One of the items that caught my attention is that the backup / reverse camera image was very fuzzy/blurry on the screen, to the point of being unusable. Instead of buying a new one, I picked up a used one on eBay for about $115. I was comparing the two and noticed that the old camera seems to be missing the outer part of the camera lens (the rounded part). A couple of pictures posted below for reference. I saw several tips on YouTube about using scotch tape and other means to try to sharpen a blurry image due to scratched on the old lens. In my case, there was actually a piece missing. Though I would post this in case anyone else comes across a similar issue and is looking for different causes. Be sure the “rounded” part of the lens is still intact.
Old camera - note that there is no “rounded” part left. EBay camera
Yeah its a lot better. The night vision doesn't look like night vision from the 90's lol. Its pretty clear in general.
I will need to check the wiring and see if I can just hook it up.... I think most backup cameras are exactly the same wiring, but who knows.... Will check it out probably in 2 weeks. Its raining like cats and dogs in the bay area for the next week.
