Tsb 20-040

Just scheduled appt to drop off my RLX tomorrow for TSB 20-040 - Emissions Recall: 2014, 2016-20 RLX Sport Hybrid Odd Gear Monitor Software Update. While the car is at dealer, is there any other TSB or updates I should have them check out? Maybe update Navigation software if it needs it? I'll probably never will use the onboard navigation. Planning to add GROM Vline2 soon.

The only way I know of how to update the Navi database is with an update DVD disk that is only offered in the fall. Navi updates only come out once a year in the fall and Acura sells the exact same disk without any version updates for 12 months ($199 fall, $149 winter/spring, $99 around summer). There is a good chance the navi database is from last fall of 2019 for your 2020 RLX. I have never found out what is exactly being updated or details on "what is new" with the database with the navi update disk (firmware, software, database, POI, etc...). Dishing out $199+shipping is a lot of money to spend for an update navi DVD and you don't know if it will update your system or not.

Another option until you install GROM Vline2 is sign up for Acuralink for the free 3 months. You can search addresses within the Acuralink app using Apple maps and send to the RLX to navigate or save for later. Acuralink also connects to your iCloud calendar to show you what is happening on that day. You can send addresses from your iCloud calendar from the Acuralink reminder if you put an address in the 2nd spot below the title in the iCloud calendar entry.

Other than sending addresses on the go, there isn't a lot of other features to Acuralink worth the money for a 1-3 year subscription; unless you are planning of crashing or your car gets stolen.

I will install GROM Vline2 for sure. Had on my GS, I loved it. Just waiting for GROM to confirm if 360 camera issue is fixed before I pull trigger. Installation looks pretty straight forward, just pulling some panel trims to remove radio. I installed GROM on my GS myself, shouldn't be much different with the RLX.

I thought AcuraLink only comes with new cars. I tried signing up but it's asking for PIN which I don't have. I don't see any usefulness of AcuraLink, am an Android user so none of those iCloud syncing stuff matters to me. Already have remote start on keyfob which I use quite alot on the MDX. Another feature I love is Walk Away Automatic lock, never again have to worry if I locked the doors or not.

It might depend on if the original owner used 3 free months of Acuralink. Not sure if that would work or not?

Just dropped off my RLX for TSB 20-040. I requested a new 2021 TLX loaner. Initial impressions:

Likes:
New Interior design
New infotainment, very responsive
ELS studio 3D sound, just as good as Krell?
Flat bottom sport steering wheel
Peppy acceleration once Turbo kicks in
Wireless phone charger

Dislikes:
1 sec lag changing gears with paddles
Cheap hard plastic everywhere inside
Hard leather seats
Not enough power
Rear-end looks like a Camaro/Dodge Charger

As a Camaro owner, I take offence to that 🤣. The rear of the new TLX is absolutely dreadful...

Rear doors and quarter panels look like prime candidates for dings on that TLX. Way too much rear there. Maybe the look would be different with different tail lights.

Looks like a fwd ASpec TLX? I didn't like the cramped rear seats, road noise, and tight driver's position of the previous 1st Gen TLX. How do those things compare to the current RLX? This 2021 TLX would be a perfect upgrade for my son's 06 TSX A-Spec.

Yes, this is the 2.0T FWD TLX. The Type S 3.0T AWD is not available until next Spring. I've driven both 2020 and 2021 TLX, the newer one is indeed more peppy. Love the rev happy newer turbo engine. But now that I have a taste of luxury of my RLX, no way in hell would I go back to TLX, even in the Type S variant. Although the newer interior design is nicer, it's way too much cheap plastic everywhere for my taste. It would be perfect for a younger 20-30ish person.
