2014 RLX Bluetooth Fix $4000???

My wife has a 2014 RLX on which the Bluetooth just stopped working. Dealer says it's a bad telematics control unit and cost to fix is about $4000! Just curious if anyone dealt with this issue before, if true it seems an incredibly poor design where bluetooth functionality relies on such an expensive part. I had the entire bluetooth unit replaced on my old 2008 MDX for $150.

Yikes. This is a new one. Hopefully there is an aftermarket replacement. Wondering if this is a part you can get used? Parts yard maybe.

Sorry to hear this and hope it works out for you.

The front camera stopped working on my 2015 RLX SH and the dealer quoted me $5,900 CDN to replace the LKAS camera assembly. I questioned them on why they are recommending replacing the LKAS camera when it’s my front parking camera that isn’t working.... They are two different systems and my LKAS is operating perfectly fine. They came back and said oops our bad, you are right, and the front camera is only $600.

A few years ago my windshield also was damaged by a rock and needed replacing. The dealer installed a P-AWS windshield (completely different part number to the Sport Hybrid) and as a result, my HUD was blurry. The SH windshield was approximately $4,000 CDN as I recall.

Morals of the story are:

(1) Dealers and their technicians know very little about the workings of the low volume RLX. Several times I’ve had to correct them on repairs.

(2) Less commonly replaced parts for the RLX are ridiculously expense, I assume due to low production and parts coming from Japan

(3) The RLX Sport Hybrid is generally a reliable and overall amazing vehicle but it’s going to get increasingly expensive to maintain as parts fail in time - making me question how long I will own it into the future. God help us all when the hybrid battery and components start to fail....

Wow!!! This is considerably more expensive than German repairs for similar items!!! WOW!! Wonder if these would have been more reasonable if the RLX were manufactured in US and had more widespread North Amercian adoption.

WOW! Anyone buying this new should buy the 8 year/120k AcuraCare (max terms) and/or buy CPO to get the 100k CPO. I normally dont advocate AcuraCare, but seeing these prices you probably should max out AcuraCare if you're planning to keep it.

Am I missing something?

AcuraCare can be purchased at any given point as long as the vehicle is under the manufacturer's warranty.
My wife's TL was lease return, we got it as 3 years old, 43k miles back in 2016 (FWD '13 TL) - and purchased AcuraCare separately from Cury Acura (East Coast).
Here is the link if anyone needs it...

I would try ebay or salvage yard. It'll save you tons of money getting these parts.
