Took the Plunge....hellllo 2016 RLX Hybrid!!!
Greetings all!
I just wanted to thank all the contributors in this forum for all the great information/ideas shared. I've been lurking the past month trying to make a decision.....I used to be a member in the 2nd Generation RL section and loved reading all about the RL. Posted some things I found out too to share....
But with all the info and happy folks, I decided to take the plunge this weekend and purchased! It had 13 miles on it upon pickup, but to travel home, I managed to put on about 300. What an incredible ride!!!! The smoothness, yet ability to power thru the curves of exit ramps.....I thought the old RL was awesome at that..this puts it to shame!
Also, I noticed the incredible braking power! Pretty darn amazing! So many things that I need to learn still....they told me about the "neutral" at the car wash and also to disengage auto wipers at the car wash. I'll be handwashing for awhile....but in the winter, gotta hit up the brushless washes.
I'll be sure to monitor the forums and also post questions/findings....but again just wanted to say "greetings" and "thanks" to everyone!

Burning Brakes
Congrats jmt4m, and welcome! The more you drive it, the more you will like it:-). It will also surprise you every so often with the things it can do!
The brake feel is amazing, and so is the street performance braking. But according to George, they are not up to par for the track.......am i glad i don't have a track near me:-)

The only annoying things so far: 1. Ripping a CD thats not in the database is a PITA to type in all the titles and artist name, esp having to do artist name repeatedly! Also, it's "unknown tracks 1-12". Then when I start naming the tracks, it freaking starts re-arranging track 4 to become track 1, b/c of alphabetical order! Anyone know a way around this?
2. I feel like my HUD is kind of slanted a slight bit.....you can adjust up and down, but can you adjust the level of the HUD?
@neuronbob - Man, you've been here at AZ forever, IIRC! At least since 2006 minimum....and btw, congrats on that crazy crazy NBA finals victory! I'm a Wizards fan and even I'm giving it up for LBJ!
@pgeorg - I look forward to "discovery" of new cool features....right now, just the passing power on interstate and freaking handling the curve while still accelerating is nasty to me.....
Thanks Hondamore too!

@jmt4m... First I bought '15 RLX Paws Avance but FWD is not for me anymore, gave it to my dad. I totally agree with you that SH-AWD RLX is totally different. In my family basically two same looking cars but completely different animals, mine '14 GS350 Fsport & my wife's '13 GS450H luxury package. I prefer Fsport, hate CVT tranny

Welcome to the family my friend! You are going to love this car! While it is not perfect, it will surprise you from time to time when you gun it. If you catch it just right from around 20 mph in sport mode and need to move forward in traffic very quickly, it will get your attention. Respect it because you could easily rear end someone. Also braking is super strong. Once you figure out how to finesse the power delivery your mpg will improve even more.

Welcome aboard. Nice to have another Sport Hybrid owner here. I will echo others in saying you will like your new wheels. My experience is the more time you have in the car, the more you will enjoy it. There are a few issues I have with the 2014, some of which may have been improved in the 2016 (my big gripe is the infotainment system), but I still don't regret owning the car because it is such a great drive.

@shurik74....LOL. GS350 amazing car. I get the best of both worlds, as my wife has a 2013 GS350 that I'm allowed to ride in every blue moon (LOL!!!) Her's isn't as nice as yours though....just the regular AWD GS350. I got 2 kids now though, and the back row is a bit snug in the GS, which as weird as this sounds, was one of the main attractions to this RLX. The space in the back seats is just ridiculous...esp compared to my old RL

There is a slight problem inasmuch as the adjustments up/down cause the visuals to be affected by the curvature of the windscreen.
Is that what you mean?
If it helps any, our HUD is really quite good compared to almost everybody else's. Everybody else this side of 250,000 anyway. :-)

But reading these forums and then test driving the 2014 PAWS version vs the 2016 Hybrid set me on a course....the whole "buy" or not buy ordeal lasted about a month. I had secured what I think was a pretty good deal w/ accessories included and it was still a matter of taking that plunge. I'd never spent that much money on a car before and actually swore that I would never go past the 55K mark OTD, LOL......but w/ Acura, you know what you're gonna get. In a way, it's nice that their marketing is suspect, as it is us loyalists that truly understand how much car you are getting for what we pay.
Normally dropping so much money, one would go "big 3", but I kind of like driving a car that you don't see so many of on the road Weird, huh????

I'm not really sure I understand what it is you're noticing.

I just felt that the MPH numbers seemed to be slanted a bit crooked going downward, like it's not straight flat. It's probably the curvature like you said. I've gotten used to it already....but I originally thought it was supposed to be level going all the way across.
The biggest PITA right now that I'm trying to work with is:
1. The spoiler apparently uses adhesive strip in the middle, but it didn't take, so it's loose now. I can press on the part where the tape is and it "secures" and then after a few ours, it pops back off again.....will take that in sometime as it's not a priority fix.
2. Working w/ ripping CDs onto the HD and no Gracienote data....what a pain to type in the title tracks and even more so, have to keep retyping the ARTIST name. I would hope the software was smart enough to know that it's the same artist...UGH. SO wished we could just plug in a USB keyboard to type up everything, or that you can use voice recognition.
First world problems, huh?

I think the majority of SH drivers here were former RL owners. And to be honest, I still miss the RL. Not that it diminishes my love for the RLX. But imagine the 1 month process you lived to pull the trigger taking 3+ years! In hindsight I do not regret it - and learned a lot about my car desires and tastes. Acura may have a VERY small market for this car, and there is a good sampling of that on this forum but we all express similar experiences and opinions of the car. That icludes RL vs PAWS vs SH. So in that focus, it seems Acura did capture the desires of a small but acutely focused community. I think the PAWS model at current sale price es is a bargain. But it was not enough to get me out of my RL. The SH on the other band, I feel is much more car, from an engineering aspects t, than still ker price warrants. Being so few built, it is hard to decipher trends in pricing as it varies by locaion, supply and demand.
Concerning Gracenote: did you update the car to the latest version? If so and your CDs do not have the track and album data, I believe there is software available to remedy that. You take your unlabeled disc and using your laptop / desktop you enter the track labels through a UI which either burns them onto your existing CD or copies the files and data to a local drive to be ripped to a new cd. Much easier to use this tool than the car's UI to enter track and album labels.
