It'll be discontinued after the 2020 MY.
Approximately a month ago, Acura confirmed the RLX will be discontinued in North America after the 2020 model year. It’ll remain on sale in other regions of the world under the Honda Accord moniker but you’ll have just a few more months if you want to get one in America. In fact, if you hurry up, you can get a pretty good deal for a brand new example.CarsDirect shines more light on the latest incentives for the luxury sedan in a new report, where it says you can get a massive $11,000 dealer cash incentive on all versions of the 2020 RLX - one of the biggest new car discounts we’ve seen lately. In addition, Acura is offering a $1,000 loyalty discount, up by $500 from the previous offer.
The Latest RLX Updates:
[img] 2018 Acura RLX Sport Hybrid First Drive: Gradual Improvement[img] Updated Acura RLX Sedan Makes Its Pebble Beach Debut Compared to the discounts for the model available a few months ago, it turns out you can get a 50-percent larger bonus now. For a comparison, offers on all RLX models have sitting at about $7,500 dealer incentive plus a $500 loyalty bonus for months. Or, if you do the math, from $8,000 to a whopping $12,000 off MSRP.
The RLX has never been a strong seller for the Japanese premium brand. In 2018, when it was heavily refreshed, only 1,931 units were sold and last year this number dropped to just 1,019 units. Prices for the 2020 model year kick off at $55,925 for the standard sedan and $62,925 for the hybrid-powered model.
The luxury sedan is also among the vehicles that have the highest depreciation ratings on the market. According to a recent study, the RLX loses almost 70 percent of its value in a period of five years.

It would be a better deal if Acura added missing items to the 2020 RLX like Carplay, real wood trim, updated touch screen, trunk auto close button, and electronic dampers

The discount I got was even better than this one

They've been discounting RLX pretty heavily even before the official news of discontinuance. $50k for a Sport Hybrid Advance is a pretty decent deal. Even better is a used one...

Agree. I've seen a handful of CPO'd '20's in the northeast running in the mid 40's. So we're talking roughly another one to two thousand above the current offer on a new one. If you can find one, that is where the deal lies in my opinion.

Are you guys worried about VCM in the engine - any reported vibrations?

Until now, I didn't know my 18 RLX hybrid had VCM. Maybe the 7DCT electric motor helps smooth out the transition in/out of VCM?

Three Wheelin'
With the Sport Hybrid, I agree that the DCT may help smooth things out with the VCM function BUT it is also the third electric motor adjacent to the transmission that plays a big role in "smoothing out" the VCM transitions as well as smoothing out the restarts when the car shifts from EV to ICE modes. The electric motor can "feather in" a bit of extra torque when necessary to make cylinder deactivation/reactivation and complete ICE restarts seamless and nearly imperceptible.

I really wish the RLX came with the electronic dampers and sportier suspension at the MDX hybrid level. My 19 MDX Hybrid in Sport mode handles weight transfers and curves noticeably better with 245/50/20 tires than my 18 RLX with 245/40/19 tires. Both vehicles come in within 100 lbs of each other in vehicle weight. The RLX does seem to have programmed situations that can charge the battery to a higher level in normal driving, engages EV mode more often/longer, and go into EV mode in reverse when backing out (my MDX has never used EV mode in reverse). The RLX is more at home on the drag strip compared to Laguna Seca course.

Got similar OTD price like Triaque.
Got about the same with OTD price. Plus, I got the black color (inside and outside, exactly how I wanted) and included the accessories (Spoiler, splash guard, wheel lock, all season mate high, trunk tray). So the MSRP is about 46K -ish.

In March 2019 we got a CPO 2018 Sport Hybrid with 1200 miles (dealer loaner that was used for 3 months) for $45k - about $18k off of list. Essentially a new car for cheap money.

I'm at Crown Acura in Greensboro waiting on my car's service and there is a 2020 RLX PAWS in the showroom with big print on the windshield "$15,000 discount". The sticker is $55K. Imagine buying a new RLX PAWS for $40K. I owned a 2014 RLX PAWS and it was a sweet car. A 2020 version would be even sweeter with six years of improvement tweaks implemented.
On the other hand, I'm looking for a MDX hybrid to replace our RX350 and it seems like there are not many left at Acura dealerships.

Same experience I had with my 18 RLX hybrid purchase in Dec/19. I'm from NM and flew out to purchased the RLX near Sacramento, CA. The salesman suggested he drive the RLX +2 hours to Reno, NV, to sign paperwork to keep from paying CA sales taxes (2X the amount compared to NM). The salesman drove us over the mountain on icy roads in a snow storm near Lake Tahoe. We just needed to pay for a driver to take him back over the mountain once the sale was complete. The head sales manager was using the RLX hybrid as his personal daily driver and was happy and sad to see it go. I just paid the sales tax out-of-pocket when I registered the RLX in NM. The savings from not paying the CA sales tax paid for the one-way flight to San Jose for two, one way car rental car, hotel in Reno/Las Vegas, gas, and food on the 11 hour trip back with $$$ left over.
The early Legend 4-doors and coupes were out of my price range new or used back in the day. Didn't want the RLX hybrid to slip by if I could own one now.

Just got back from the dealership & they had a Sport Hybrid Advance in the showroom with a sign that said "Up to $13,000 off. Ask Us How".
Usually you have to do a bunch of things to get this deal like finance with them but still a pretty good offer.
Too bad I am not in the market for another sedan right now.

A) I never had any VCM vibrations in my RLX. In fact, I've never noticed it in any Acura I've owned, but that's just me.
I received an email from my dealer yesterday about $13k of on the RLX. They've got two in stock. If I were in the market, I'd jump on it. Unfortunately, I'm having too much fun rowing my own gears in my Accord...and awaiting TLX Type S....

The +18 RLX trunk has some heavy duty springs that pop it 90 degrees up and the extremely hard to close it with the awkward mounted interior mounted hand hold without having to fling it shut several times to finally catch. It is usually dusty/sandy in the southwest. The rear of the RLX is pretty dusty/dirty starting the day after washing it to use the outside trunk edge (hands get dirty and scratch the paint). The Honda Legend version sold in Japan has the trunk close button.

I'll never understand decisions like this. While the automatic trunk close isn't a HUGE deal, it is a feature that seems like it should be on Acura's purported flagship sedan. And if it's on the exact same model sold in a different country, barring any safety or regulatory issues (which I can't imagine in this case), it just seems like a no-brainer to also have it on the ones sold here. *sigh*

Auto Trunk On RLX
MrGold
Cab you elaborate on the trunk auto close option from the JDM Legend/RLX? I’ll order all the parts from the JDM market if it has a kick sensor and auto open and close feature.
Thanks!

- trunk close button on trunk lid lip (no sonic sensor under the bumper)
- 2nd row digital touch pad for audio and climate control inside 2nd row armrest
- a button on back of the front passenger seat for rear passenger to slide front passenger seat up for more leg room
- Legend badges, Honda grill, and Legend door sill kick plates
Everything else looked 95%-98% similar to north American Acura RLX version.

2020 Acura RLX Advance
The dealer gets the $11,000 spiff from Acura. There is an additional $1000 Acura owner loyalty bonus if you own a 2010 or newer Acura
1 catch on the $11,000 spiff is you must finance a minimum of $10k through Acura finance at 5.9% but can pay off loan in a few months. The lower rate financing special they also offer cannot be coupled with the $11k spiff. And the dealers can also offer their discount on top of the $12k manufacturers discount. I pick up my 2020 RLX Hybrid next weekend in New York. Did the test drive, color selection, funds transfer, and paperwork yesterday.
My one disappointment after owning 2 RLs is the RLX does not have the factory hand sanded paint prep. My 2012 RL paint finish puts my moms S550 and almost every other new car paint finish (sans Lexus) to shame. Even after 167k miles.
