Well, my 2020 RLX SHAWD has fried its brakes less than 2 years and 25k miles in. Years ago, I did brake upgrades with Stoptech, AP, EBC, etc...anyone have any insight for the RLX? Stock brake rotor/pad replacement at the dealer is way more than any of the prices below through my local mechanic, so, the 'upgrade' is for something that might last a bit longer and be far more cosmetic than Acura/Honda's crappy brakes and coatings...
I went with the R1 concepts drilled and slotted carbon geomet series and also R1 "optimum OEp" pads and so far so good. Very noticeable upgrade in performance from the stock rotors and pads. I only have about 2k miles on them, so durability is still TBD but I am happy so far.

My CPO 14 RLXSH came with warped rotors at 20k, replaced with slotted centric, ebc red, brought up to 99k, no issues.
My CPO 16 RLXSH came with warped rotors at 15k, replaced with cyro centric, stoptech, put 55k miles and no issues.

Fascinating. I guess the previous owner would know then.
So I now wonder how it was designated a CPO with "warped rotors"! Did Acura replace the "warped" rotors with the equipment you described....very interested if they did.
Also, BTW, very often "pulsing" brakes during stops can be misdiagnosed as "warped" when in fact they are simply pads that were not "ridden in" properly, or abusively aggressive braking. That leaves a deposit from the pad on the rotor that causes the "warped" or "pulsing" sensation. So, another question, were the rotors run out by the tech to confirm the "warping" or did you have a local mechanic do the work, not Acura?
Very interested. Thanks.

Exactly my thinking. When I bought my 2020 RLX SH with 8 k miles on it, the brakes were pulsating a bit. I’m the process of trouble shooting, I did the old trick of hard braking from 60 mph several times to burn off deposits from prolonged sitting. It worked and I’ve now put another 17k on the car with no brake issues whatsoever.

Yeah, I doubt they were really "warped". I've talked to Porsche guys who actually replaced the pads with more abrasive product expressly to remove those deposits, and then reinstalled the stock pads.

i just Bought these for my RLX but i wanna Have a local mechanic install them . When i spoke to one of the service advisors at Acura they said that i need some sort of special tool for the rear brakes that only Acura carries . Sounds like bs but do you know what he’s referring to ??
