NAV Map - Uncontrollable Cursor/Scrolling?
NAV Map - Uncontrollable Cursor/Scrolling?
I've got an unpleasant bug in my NAV system, which is presumably the same system as in PAWS cars. When I go to nudge the cursor (the location of the car on the map screen) to look around at adjacent streets, it accelerates and moves way too far and too fast to control. In other words, I cannot control the scrolling of the screen to get to the place on the map I want to look at; the cursor just goes flying in whatever direction I try to nudge it, sending the map in the opposite direction.
I first saw this about a week after I got the car when I took a road trip to NYC. About an hour into the return, while under navigation, I could not control the screen when scrolling to look at a nearby road. Otherwise the routing and navigation worked fine. And when I got home and restarted the car, all was back to normal. Fast forward a couple of weeks, and now my cursor/screen accelerates at least a screenful at the slightest nudge and it is now happening all the time, both when navigating a route and when just using the map without a route.
Has anyone else seen this? There is apparently no update for the Hybrid NAV system, so it looks like the best I can do is to get my dealer to re-flash the software with the current version when I go in for my wind-noise TSB next week, and hope that it doesn't occur again. My dealer has never seen this problem - though they haven't sold that many RLXs (and only one Hybrid
.)

.)The only way you can get it to be more accurate is to try to get in the vicinity, and as you get close, zoom in a level, then move closer. Keep repeating these steps till you get to the point you need.
The speed at which the cursor moves slows down as you zoom closer and closer in, giving you increased accuracy.
Its definitely awkward and should be improved.
Due respect, holografique, but however bad the NAV UI might be on the RLX, the scrolling on my Hybrid worked much better up until now, and was not that different from my '06 RL (maybe a little slower). As I said in my post, restarting the car originally brought the map scrolling back to what I would consider normal, and the way it worked originally. So what I am seeing now is way worse than it was up to now; and previously the map scrolling was not what I would consider uncontrollable.
System Restart and Map Scrolling Problem??
My map scrolling bug took a new turn today. I got into my car this morning and was greeted on start with an all-black NAV screen with lots of white lettering, that started "The navigation system lost power and is acquiring its location from the GPS satellites." I assume this means that the NAV system had a restart of its own volition, though it was working fine when I turned off the car last night and the car otherwise started normally.
In any case, the map scrolling problem is now gone, at least for the moment, and the map scrolls normally. My guess is that the NAV system got its bits in a twist, which caused the map scrolling problem, and then also finally caused it to restart. Or perhaps the restart was just a coincidence, but if so, it fixed the scrolling problem just by restarting for whatever reason caused the restart.
Is this "power lost" screen, in fact, the result of a NAV system restart?
And if so, now that I see that a restart (coincidental with my scrolling problem or not) fixed, at least temporarily, my scrolling problem, does anyone know how to force a NAV system restart in case the scrolling problem reappears?
And why has no one else seen this, as I have hit the bug twice in the last four weeks? Am I doing something wrong? Has the NAV system gotten angry with the way I drive?
