Found my old Legend keychain. Gosh I miss her so much. Traded her in for a BMW E46 328Ci in 2000. Worst decision I've ever made. Any of you here owned a Legend before?
The legend coupe was my dream car back in early/mid 90s; but, couldn't afford it with a young family, wife in college, and first few years of Army Officer's pay. It has been mostly the next best thing of Accord sedans and coupes until I was able to jump into Acura's down the road.
I was a young college kid when I purchased my '92 Legend Coupe L. I barely could afford the car payments. Ate ramen for many years to save enough money to purchase her LOL. So much good memories with that car. I would go out every weekend with friends. They all drooled over the car and kept asking me to sell it to them. Ah the great '90s hey days for Acura. What a shame Acura has lost all that prestige. I hope these new "Type S" vehicles will bring them back to their glory days.
Here's to the good ol' days of being being broke; but, happy with life's simple pleasures!
Missing out on the Legend coupe was one of the reasons for not passing up on the RLX hybrid while pristine models are still available. I still kick myself for going for the 06 TSX 5AT instead of the 06 TSX 6MT in the exact same color combo when I purchased new back in 2006 (thinking with the wrong head).
My wife moved from a 91 Integra to a 93 Legend L sedan when she started to commute from NH into Boston, and LOVED that car. When the lease was done she moved to a 96 RL, which she HATED. I'll admit the two cars were very different. I liked the RL more than she did, but the driving "fun factor" was definitely lost in the RL as compared to the Legend...... When she got her '12 TL SH-AWD she got a lot of the "fun factor" back, but the luxury was a bit less than her Legend. Her current RLX is probably a blend of all 3, and she seems happy again. ;-)
Looking at your post my mind is blown as my 2014 RLX Advance has basically the same remote with some minor "tweaks" to button locations but same overall case size....... Acura design moves slowly ( albeit reliably) for sure.
I had a '94 Legend coupe 6 speed with "Desert Mist" paint back in the day - it was a unicorn just as the RLX Sport Hybrid is today. I bought it in 1995 as it was sitting on the lot for over a year because it was "priced too high" according to the critics and the new Lexus brand was doing a better job of convincing people that they were a TRUE luxury brand. I picked it up for $12000 below MSRP (I think it retailed for $54,000) which I considered a steal and we spent 10 wonderful years together until I move on to my '05 RL (also Desert Mist and notably my first automatic transmission). I thoroughly enjoyed my RL for another 10 years until I picked up my '14 RLX Sport Hybrid early in 2015.
Because of the rarity of the cars that I have driven, selling them was extremely easy. I listed my 11 year old Legend for sale in the paper (that's all we had back then) for $15,000 and sold it the next day for $15,500 after a bidding war. My 10 year old RL sold in a day for $15,700 (I traded my RL in on my RLX rather than selling it personally because they were giving me such a great deal on my RLX). (All prices are in Canadian dollars). So, the lesson here is... the rarity of these cars creates a "cult following" of hard core Honda/Acura fans that are very anxious to drive Acura's finest (NSX exempted) if you hold onto them long enough.
Just my two cents.

LOL tell me about it...Acura is still using that damn old infotainment from 2014. That's the major reason why this car doesn't sell. Thanks to GROM, that will be remedied soon in my car.
Talking about the remote, it's freaking huge. I wear jeans most of the time and find it challenging to fit the humongous remote in my pocket.

Wow, Legend Coupe 6SP lucky you! I wanted a '94-'95 Coupe so badly but had to sell my right kidney back then to afford one.
So, in 2030 I should be able to sell my RLX SH for $15K easily? LOL, I should have hang on to my Legend Coupe.
Canadian prices are very different than our neighbours to the south. For example, the base MSRP on a new 2020 RLX Sport Hybrid is over $70,000 CDN, my '05 RL had an MSRP of $68,000+. Much of this difference is Acura protecting themselves from fluctuations in the dollar exchange rate, but Acura also bumps up the Canadian pricing because of the low volume "Canadian versions" they have to make. The good news is that the Canadian version of these gems are even rarer than in the US with only roughly 50 or less Canadian spec RLX Sport Hybrids being made a year.
I do miss my Legend, but surprisingly, I have long outgrown the need to drive with a manual transmission. The paddle shifters work just fine when I'm feeling sporty.

I'm giving these fob covers a try from Amazon, $13 each. The key fobs for my MDX and RDX look identical and I wanted something to tell them apart at a glance. Tight fit with the huge FOB. No problems with seeing/using remote start or pressing the other buttons when needed:
Since we are discussing key covers, I had to post a couple of pics of the key cover that my wife sewed/embroidered for me. (The cheap "key ninja" is just a cheap device to keep my keys from rattling around in my pocket.)
I used those silicone type of covers on my remotes for a few years (I wear mine on a carabiner on a belt loop), but found that if anything go inside the silicone cover that it'd get really "yucky" inside. So I opted to get something more 'breathable' this time.
@andysinnh does LEDs show thru cut-out? I find many of these leather cover don't have precise cut-out so it's hard to see LED confirmation lights for when using remote start/locking car.
I like the covers that I got. Two for price of one. And cut-out are perfectly aligned. Love the black leather with red stitching.

Yes - the lights do show thru the cut outs. At first the leather's a little stiff so it's not fully seated, but after a week or so it's stretched adequately for the lights to be aligned. I like the ones I got because they're a bit different than yours in that they cover the entire bottom of the remote. So when I have them hanging off the carabiner they won't slide off. Downside is that it's trickier to use that physical key - but considering I don't think I've ever used it (knock on wood), it wasn't a big deal to me ;-)
I cannot figure out why key fobs have grown in size over the years? I think key fobs should only be as thick and no larger than the hidden spare key. Just add a "find my keys" app to Acuralink with a beeping sound to the fob and that would be perfect for me. I know some vehicles are providing smartphone integration and you can leave your key fob at home. Waiting to see all the little tech updates with the 4th Gen MDX.
Acura and I go WAY back to the very beginning. Back in 1985, I was a newly christened lawyer with my first real paycheck after 20 years of schooling. It didn't take long for me to become enthralled with Honda's foray into the luxury car field. I purchased the very first Acura in my area, a 1986 Legend. No model designation (those would come later). It was just a 4 door sedan, no options, no accessories, just a pure expression of what Honda quality with a luxury spin to it. A 5 speed made it fun, and a potent 2.5 Liter V-6, made it fast for the times. I drove the hell out of that thing for four years. I sold it to my brother (who kept it another 12 years after that) in favor of a 1990 Legend LS Sedan, this time with an automatic. Came back to a 2005 Acura RL after venturing into Mercedes Benz E-Class and CLK-Class, Jeep Grand Cherokee, and two Saab 9-5 Wagons. After that, a few more flings with a Nissan Maxima and Cadillac XTS until I was drawn back to the Acura Family with a 2016 RLX Hybrid Advance and 2017 MDX Hybrid Advance. Whew! If you're still with me, the RLX went to my sister in September when I stepped up to my 2020 Audi A8 L e PHEV.
So, yeah, Acura and I have a long, wonderful history. If they ever make their way back to a PHEV large luxury car or even a BEV large luxury car, I will be back. One just can't turn one's back on 35 years of history. The Company's vehicles are just TOO good.
After my '92 Legend L coupe, I stray to '00 BMW 328Ci, '06' Nissan 350Z, '09 Honda Civic, '06 Toyota 4Runner , '15 Lexus GS350, now coming back to Acura RLX. My wife always had an Acura in the family (2000 Integra and 2017 MDX), so I guess I never left Acura. Exciting to see new Type S variant coming 2021+. I hope they release a MDX Type S Sport Hybrid someday. We will surely trade-up if that ever happens.
