Just Bought a 2018 RLX Tech Platinum White Pearl...
I totaled my 2010 RL and needed a new car..
Just bought this car 2 days ago. 2018 RLX Tech Platinum White Pearl with espresso interior. 12% tint all around and 35% on windshield (shoulda did 30% 🤦🏾♂️). Got the all weather high wall floor mats, but returning those and bought the regular all weathers. Ordered custom genuine sheepskin seat covers for the front with headrest and center console. Ordering trunk tray on Monday. Bout to do chrome delete, mud flaps and spoiler. This my new daily. Totaled my 2010 RL which Ioved so much...Totaled my 2010 RL (I LOVED this car). Doctors said no way I shoulda been able to walk away from this with only a fractured rib. 🤯Other doc flat out said I'm lucky to be alive. GOD is good!

Welcome to Acurazine! Congrats on the new ride, despite the events that led you to this point. What do you love most about the upgrade to the RLX?

Congratulations. The new RLX looks like it was well cared for, very clean.

Thanks. (I been a member since like 2014, but I just don't post much.)Overall I like that it feels more luxurious. I like that it's bigger inside and out. I wish it had a little more horsepower. I also wish it still had active headlamps and cooled seats. Lastly, I wish HUD, heated steering wheel and 360° overhead cam came standard. I was actually still very content with the old car. I had bought it in 2014 with 53k miles and when I totaled it, it only had 155k miles on it. I really babied that car and will do the same with this one.

Thanks. Yea, it was 1-owner, barely driven and definitely very well cared for. Interior is flawless. Exterior is as close to flawless as you can possibly get with only the tiniest llittle nics here and there, but they are barely visible. I only noticed them when I washed it for the 1st time yesterday.

The Jewel-eye headlights in the RLX constantly distribute the light in a pattern that includes the areas covered by the active headlamps in your previous RL. That is, no sideways movement of the beam is necessary since those areas are already being illuminated by the jewel-eye dispersion pattern. You'll notice while driving at night that street signs appear more noticeable, this is because they are illuminated by the jewel-eye headlights unlike your RL adaptive headlights which illuminated the sides only when turning a corner.
Just FYI. I hope you enjoy your new ride.

Thanks, I didn't know that. TBH, I didn't do much research when I bought this car. I just knew the only acceptable replacement for my old RL was an RLX. Like I said in another thread, it's the only car within this price range that literally checks every box. A little luxury, a little sportiness, a little tech, spacious, aesthetically pleasing AND the reliability of a Honda. There literally is no other car like it for a daily driver.

Holy Moly! After seeing the pics of your RL you really need to be grateful to the big guy up above!
enjoy the RLX and be safe out there
I had a 2006RL and 2012 RL. I really loved them both, especially the 2012. The RL’s still had some of that spirited boy racer Honda DNA in them. The RLX not as much, but it is a very satisfying and highly competent car in a different more Lexus LS way

Testament to Honda’s safety engineering considering how that RL got pretty smashed up. Welcome to the club!
A note on the jewel headlights, I don’t know if it’s because we have the double stacked design (which I love) but I get high beamed often because I think other drivers at night think my high beams are on.

Yea that's another thing I forgot to mention. The way my RL absolutely protected me and absorbed the impact was like none other. I was doing 55 mph on the highway and a young, drunk girl CRUSHED me from behind. I spinned out and hit another car. The girl HAD to have been doing 80 or 90 mph. Apparently, she fell asleep behind the wheel. But yea, Honda safety and build quality is definitely top notch and I'm a believer for sure, now more than ever if I wasnt before. That 2009 - 2012 RL is such a special and amazing car to me.

Glad you survived! I keep buying Honda products because my first Honda, a 1982 Civic Coupe, gave itself up for me in a crash when I was 22. I walked away from a multiple rollover accident at freeway speed. Welcome to the RLX fam, these are quite safe, too.

Thanks! This car feels quite safe too. I'm liking it ALOT. I wish I had done a bit more research and got an Advance trim model so I could have the rear sunshades, HUD, heated steering wheel and 360 view cam. On another, there's just something so special about the 2009-2012 RL. I started to try to get another one of those, but they are just so rare at this point. Mine had 155k iles, but was in such immaculate condition. I woulda been almost impossible to find one like it. Oh well.

I get this all the time too. They stop flashing when I flash back. Kinda funny sometimes.

Looking great. I just hope you have tire and wheel hazard insurance. Our roads are not low profile tire and wheel friendly. I have had to have 2 of my RLX OEM wheels trued. Hope you are really enjoying that great RLX!

Yup! I had one pinch flat with OEM rims and later a bent aftermarket rim from potholes in my RLX with OEM size tires. I switched to aftermarket rims because OEM replacements are sooooo expensive and hard to find. Having an aftermarket full size spare in the garage saved me when I bent passenger/front rim a few months ago (now I need to purchase another aftermarket rim).

What was the size you went with? Is there an easy way to tell what offset etc, would fit on RLX?
I am considering wheel and rims package on Tirerack, but have a fear of ordering a set and then not fitting properly on the car lol

I stuck with OEM sized aftermarket rims so I could just use the OEM tires:
- Petrol P4B Gloss Black ($218 each at Discount Tires)
- 19X8 size
- 76.1 hub bore size
- 5-120 bolt pattern
- 35 offset
- 24lbs each

Just a reminder that if you get aftermarket rims, make sure you get the hub centering ring to bring down the larger hole in the wheel to the 64.1mm bore that's the size of the Honda/Acura center hub. Places like Discount Tire Direct and Tire Rack usually include them....
