Extended warranty pricing

I am looking at a 2014 RLX advanced with 16K miles. Goodson acura is offering me 100K+ warranty and 6 years. so they are offering 116K miles 6 years from the time I buy at $2,500. Is that a good deal or not or do I need to shop around.

Too high, IMO. When i got my RLX advance back in January, it was offered to me for $1430 for 6/100. The problem w/ getting the 'wrap' on CPO cars is that you havr to decide right there at the table if you want it, while on a new Acura, you can shop online and purchase after you buy the car.

I don't know if I'd put the wrap on the car (I've had one on an S2K and never used it, and the biggest out of warranty issue I've had in 20yrs of owning honda products is a tpms sensor). I might give some thought to wheel & tire protection if they offer it (likely not through AcuraCare). Those 19 in tires / wheels are pretty pricey if you ruin one or more - 1 claim likely pays for the entire policy. I got mine for $700 for 5yrs (actually $600, but i had a company affiliation)

When it comes to extended AcuraCare warrantys, you need to cross-shop the following dealers:

Bernardi Honda
Saccucci Honda
Hyannis Honda

They are all brick and mortar dealers and are very price competitive. And don't worry about buying an Acura warranty from a Honda dealer - remember they are all backed by American Honda.

They are in MA and RI, but that doesn't mean anything, as I meant for you to reach out on-line. They quote and sell over the web. Even though I am within 50 or so miles of each of these dealers, I have only purchased from Bernardi via the web. There are other members here on AZ that have purchased from Saccucci and Hyannis again via the web.

i learned from this forum that you can buy your extended warranty from any honda/acura dealership. It doesn't have to be purchased from the dealership you are purchasing the rlx. The extended warranty cost for the rlx has increased to the dealership due to the technology. It was posted that the cost to the dealership cost is 2,400 so add profit...so about 2,500. The rl 2g was only 1,400.00

^^^Agreed. Warranty can be purchased from any authorized dealer. However I have read some instances where dealers are not allowed to sell warrantys to FL customers. Don't know the details but might be FL dealers got together and complained to American Honda.

FYI, I read on their dealer's listed here FAQ that they will not sell to Florida residence because of Florida Insurance law only allow Fl car owners to purchase at retail price from Fl Dealers, that sucks! I don't think this is a Fl law since I brought an extended warranty a few years back on one of my other cars from out of state at almost 50% what the Fl dealer wanted for it. They are right that Fl dealers are regulated as to what they can sell the extended warranty at by the state, so it the same price no matter what dealer you go to in Fl. I did talk with the dealer I brought it from a few years after I purchased it and was told they could not sell anymore out of state warranties since dealers were complaining to the manufacture about this approach. What happen to fair competition????

The state of fl regulates the extended warranties. I am guessing but for some reason there are a lot of extended warranty companies based out of florida. There were a lot of complaints.

I called riverside acura, ARk and they quoted me $1640 for a 6 year/100K warranty.. Not sure what that will do for me now since I can't get the car because sold but maybe someone else can take advantage of it. The car I qoted on was 16K miles.

I ended up purchasing my acuracare from bob at hyannis honda. He was very friendly and prompt with the very short process and hes very competitive, he got me 5/yr 100 for 1305 on my 2011 tl which i felt was a good deal, especially since there was no tax! . Anyone looking to extend there warranty should def consider talking to bob.

I have purchased my extended warranties online as well, one from Hyannis Honda for my 3G TL.

I just recently had to price warranties for the RDX, and Hyannis is the cheapest. I will be going here to purchase again.

Bob is a nice guy (on the phone as I have never met him), but he wasn't able to quote me on an extended warranty for my daughter's Accord because we were slightly outside the 3 year OEM window. Bernardi was able to do so.......
